Thor Knudsen
Thor Haakon Knudsen (30 May 1927 – 10 January 2006) was a Norwegian politician for the Conservative Party. He was born in Tønsberg. During the cabinet Borten he worked as a State Secretary in the Ministry of Defence from January 26 1970 – January 31 1971. He was elected to the Norwegian Parliament from Vestfold in 1977, and was re-elected on two occasions. He was President of the Lagting from 1981 to 1989. A journalist by education, he worked in ''Tønsberg Blad'' from 1949 to 1956, in the Conservative Party Press Bureau from 1956 to 1970 and as editor-in-chief of ''Sandefjords Blad'' from 1971 to 1977. He was a member of the board of Norsk Telegrambyrå from 1971 to 1980. Conservative Party Of Norway
The Conservative Party or The Right ( nb, Høyre, nn, Høgre, , H; se, Olgešbellodat) is a liberal-conservative political party in Norway. It is the major party of the Norwegian centre-right, and was the leading party in government as part of the Solberg cabinet from 2013 to 2021. The current party leader is former Prime Minister Erna Solberg. The party is a member of the International Democrat Union and an associate member of the European People's Party. The party is traditionally a pragmatic and moderately conservative party strongly associated with the traditional elites within the civil service and Norwegian business life. The European Movement International is a lobbying association that coordinates the efforts of associations and national councils with the goal of promoting European integration, and disseminating information about it. History The origins of the European Movement date to July 1947, when the cause of a united Europe was being promoted by Duncan Sandys in the form of the Anglo-French United European Movement (UEM). Tønsberg , historically Tunsberg, is a city and municipality in Vestfold og Telemark county, eastern Norway, located around south-southwest of Oslo on the western coast of the Oslofjord near its mouth onto the Skagerrak. The administrative centre of the municipality is the city of Tønsberg. The city is the most populous metropolis in the district of Vestfold with a population of 52,419 in 2019.
