Thommo Reachea IV
Thommo Reachea IV ( km, ព្រះបាទសម្តេចធម្មោរាជា ទី៤) (1706–1747), born Ang Em, was a Cambodian king during Post-Angkor Period (r. 1747). Thommo Reachea IV was a son of Thommo Reachea III. He ascended the throne after his father's death in 1747. He struggled for power with his brother Ang Hing and brother-in-law Ang Tong. The monarchy of Cambodia is the head of state of the Cambodia, Kingdom of Cambodia. In the contemporary period, the King's power has been limited to that of a symbolic figurehead. The monarchy had been in existence since at least 68 AD except during its abolition from 1970 to 1993. Since 1993, the King of Cambodia has been an elected monarch, making Cambodia one of the few elective monarchy, elective monarchies of the world. The king is elected for life by the Royal Council of the Throne, which consists of several senior political and religious figures. Candidates are chosen from among male descendants of King Ang Duong who are at least 30 years old, from the two royal houses of Cambodia (the House of Norodom and the House of Sisowath). "Que sais-je?" (QSJ) (; Literally: "What do I know?", ) is an editorial collection published by the Presses universitaires de France (PUF). The aim of the series is to provide the lay reader with an accessible introduction to a field of study written by an expert in the field. As such, they are a good example of ''haute vulgarisation'' (high popularization). The sentence "Que sais-je?" is taken from the works of French essayist Michel de Montaigne. Started in 1941 by Paul Angoulvent (1899–1976), founder of the Presses Universitaires de France, the series now numbers over 3,900 titles by more than 2,500 authors, and translated in more than 43 languages. The French School of the Far East (french: École française d'Extrême-Orient, ), abbreviated EFEO, is an associated college of PSL University dedicated to the study of Asian societies. Leiden (; in English and archaic Dutch also Leyden) is a city and municipality in the province of South Holland, Netherlands. Thommo Reachea III
Thommo Reachea III or Sri Dharmaraja III, Chey Chettha VI (1690–1747), born Ang Tham, was a Cambodian king in Cambodia's history (r. 1702–1705, 1707–1714, 1736–1747). Ang Tham was a son of Chey Chettha IV. He ascended the throne in 1702. He came into conflict with the vice king (uparaja) Ang Em (Barom Ramadhipati), later, he drove out Ang Em with the help of Ayutthaya Kingdom. Ang Em fled to Saigon in 1705, and sought help from Vietnamese Nguyễn lord. Vietnamese army invaded Cambodia, Thommo Reachea III fled to Ayutthaya Kingdom. With the help of Ayutthaya Kingdom, he captured Longvek. The army of Ang Em was surrounded. A Vietnamese army under Trần Thượng Xuyên and Nguyễn Cửu Phú (阮久富) was sent to Cambodia to help Ang Em.
