Thomas Vajda
Thomas Laszlo Vajda is an American diplomat who has served as the United States Ambassador to Myanmar since 2021. Education Vajda received a Bachelor of Arts from Stanford University in 1988 and a Master of Arts from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy in 1991. Foreign Service career Vajda joined the Foreign Service in 1991 and is a career member of the Senior Foreign Service with the rank of Minister Counselor. His previous postings included Deputy Chief of Mission in Rangoon, Myanmar, Director of the Middle East Partnership Initiative, and Deputy Coordinator for Assistance to the Middle East. This is a list of ambassadors of the United States to Burma. In 1989 the military government of Burma changed the name of the nation to Myanmar, but the United States government—and all other Western governments—do not accept the name and still refer to the country as Burma in official usage. Burma became a province of India in 1886 under the British Raj. The country was occupied by Japan during World War II but after the war, again came under control of Britain. Win Myint ( ; born 8 November 1951) is a Burmese politician who served as the tenth president of Myanmar from 2018 to 2021. He was removed from office in the 2021 Burmese coup d'état. He was the Speaker of the House of Representatives of Myanmar from 2016 to 2018. He also served as a member of parliament in the House of Representatives (Pyithu Hluttaw) from 2012 to 2018. In parliamentary procedure, a voice vote (from the Latin ''viva voce'', meaning "live voice") or acclamation is a voting method in deliberative assemblies (such as legislatures) in which a group vote is taken on a topic or motion by responding vocally. The voice vote is considered the simplest and quickest of voting methods used by deliberative assemblies.
