He competed in the men's featherweight event at the 1924 Summer Olympics. Biography Tom Taylor triumphed in the featherweight division in the 1922 British Championship. He broke numerous British records and, in 1924, at the Stadium Club in London, won the world record for the two-handed dead lift with a lift of 435 lb (197 kg). Taylor, the third British competitor following Alfred Baxter and Augustine Cummins, went to the Olympics in Paris that year but cam in 17th position. Olympic weightlifting, or Olympic-style weightlifting (officially named Weightlifting), is a sport in which athletes compete in lifting a barbell loaded with weight plates from the ground to overhead, with each athlete trying to successfully lift the heaviest weights. 1924 Summer Olympics
The 1924 Summer Olympics (french: Jeux olympiques d'été de 1924), officially the Games of the VIII Olympiad (french: Jeux de la VIIIe olympiade) and also known as Paris 1924, were an international multi-sport event held in Paris, France. The opening ceremony was held on 5 July, but some competitions had already started on 4 May.
