Thomas Sweeny or Sweeney, (March 6, 1806 – May 9, 1890) was a prominent glass manufacturer in what became Wheeling, West Virginia during the American Civil War, who before that war served in both houses of the Virginia General Assembly and ran the North Wheeling Flint Glass Works. . Early and family life Thomas Sweeney was born in Armagh, Ireland to Thomas Sweeney and Sarah Ann Campbell. His family emigrated to the United States when he was a child. He and his brothers Michael (1809–1875), Campbell and Robert Henry Sweeney lived Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and by 1830 settled near the important Ohio River port of Wheeling, West Virginia, Wheeling in what was Ohio County, West Virginia, Ohio County, Virginia. Thomas Sweeney married his first wife, Rosanna Mathews (1809–1844) in Pittsburgh, and she had four children before her death in 1844. They were Andrew J. Thomas F. Sweeney (May 10, 1933 – February 5, 2007) was an American politician. Sweeney was a native of Norwich, Connecticut, born on May 10, 1933, to parents to Thomas P. Sweeney and Jane P. Toomey Sweeney. He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. He was a Democratic Party-affiliated member of the Connecticut House of Representatives The Connecticut State House of Representatives is the lower house in the Connecticut General Assembly, the state legislature (United States), state legislature of the U.S. state of Connecticut. Thomas Bell Sweeney Jr. (November 18, 1903 – September 8, 1973), was a Republican politician from the state of West Virginia. He was born in Wheeling, Ohio County, West Virginia. His father Thomas Bell Sweeney was the Wheeling agent of the Equitable Life Assurance Society, and lived in Washington, D.C.. after 1911. His grandfather was John F. Sweeney, who had founded that agency in 1887 and managed it for seven years before his death. His great-grandfather Thomas Sweeney was a prominent early industrialist in Wheeling and served in both houses of the Virginia General Assembly as a Whig. His ancestors John Bell and his son Robert Bell served in the Cumberland County, Pennsylvania militia in the American Revolution. Kerfuffle
Kerfuffle were a four-piece English folk band, originally formed in 2001 around the East Midlands and South Yorkshire regions of the UK, initially comprising Hannah James (accordion, piano, vocals, step dancing), Sam Sweeney (fiddle, percussion), Chris Thornton-Smith (guitar) and Tom Sweeney (bass guitar). Thornton-Smith was replaced by Jamie Roberts in 2007. Kerfuffle disbanded in August 2010. History Kerfuffle formed initially as a three-piece after Sam and Tom Sweeney met Hannah James. Thomas 'Sinbad' Sweeney
Thomas Sweeney, commonly known as Sinbad, is a fictional character from the British Channel 4 soap opera ''Brookside'', played by Michael Starke. The character debuted on-screen during the episode broadcast on 18 September 1984. Sinbad was originally only supposed to feature in a couple of episodes but continued to appear on a recurring basis until Stark was promoted to the show's regular cast in 1990. Casting Starke joined the cast in 1984. Discussing his first appearance in ''Brookside'' Starke recalled he not have "a clue what was going on, I knew nothing about television and I think it showed." Starke had previously worked as an extra on the show. There he became acquainted with a ''Brookside'' writer, Jimmy McGovern who asked him to play a character he had created named Sinbad.
