Thomas Röhler
Thomas Röhler (born 30 September 1991) is a German track and field athlete who competes in the javelin throw. He is the Athletics at the 2016 Summer Olympics – Men's javelin throw, 2016 Olympic Champion and 2018 European Athletics Championships – Men's javelin throw, 2018 European Champion. His personal best of 93.90 metre, m for the event ranks him Javelin throw#Men, third on the overall list. Career Röhler began taking part in track and field as a child in 1998. Raised in Jena, he attended the Johann Christoph Friedrich GutsMuths Sports High school in the city and went on to study at the University of Jena. He first competed mainly as a high jumper and a triple jumper. He began to make his impact as a junior athletics, junior (under-20) athlete in the javelin throw in 2010. 2013 European Cup Winter Throwing
The 2013 European Cup Winter Throwing was held on 16 and 17 March at the Pista de Atletismo Universitat Jaume I and Complejo Deportivo Gaetà Huguet in Castellón de la Plana, Castellón, Spain. It was the thirteenth edition of the athletics (sport), athletics competition in throwing events and was jointly organised by the European Athletic Association and the Real Federación Española de Atletismo. The competition featured men's and women's contests in shot put, discus throw, javelin throw and hammer throw. In addition to the senior competitions, there were also under-23 events for younger athletes. A total of 249 athletes from 38 nations entered the competition. It was the second time that Spain hosted the event, following on from the 2009 European Cup Winter Throwing, 2009 edition held in Tenerife. 2012 European Athletics Championships
The 2012 European Athletics Championships were held in Helsinki, Finland between 27 June and 1 July 2012. This edition marks the beginning of a new two-year cycle of the European Athletics Championships which were previously held every four years. The decision to grant the games for Helsinki was made by the European Athletics Congress on 9 November 2009. Another city that showed interest in hosting the event was Nuremberg, Germany, however Helsinki was in pole position during the whole process. This was the third time that the city had hosted the event, 1971 and 1994 being the other occasions. Sankt Wendel is a town in northeastern Saarland. It is situated on the river Blies 36 km northeast of Saarbrücken, the capital of Saarland, and is named after Saint Wendelin of Trier.
