Thomas R. Morgan
General Thomas Rowland Morgan (born January 6, 1930) served as Assistant Commandant of the United States Marine Corps from June 1986 until he retired on July 1, 1988, after completion of more than 36 years of active service. Early life and education Morgan was born on January 6, 1930, in Allentown, Pennsylvania. He completed high school in Slatington, Pennsylvania, in 1948. Morgan graduated from Colgate University in Hamilton, New York, where he was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in history and political science in 1952. In June 1973, he was awarded a Master of Arts degree in counselor education from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia. The 1st Marine Aircraft Wing is an aviation unit of the United States Marine Corps that serves as the Aviation Combat Element of the III Marine Expeditionary Force. Lake Forest is a city in Orange County, California. The population was 85,858 at the 2020 census. Lake Forest incorporated as a city on December 20, 1991. Prior to incorporation, the community had been known as El Toro. Following a vote in 2000, Lake Forest expanded its city limits to include the master-planned developments of Foothill Ranch and Portola Hills. Marine Corps Air Station El Toro was a United States Marine Corps Air Station located next to the community of El Toro, near Irvine, California. Before it was decommissioned in 1999, it was the home of Marine Corps Aviation on the West Coast.
