Thomas Nixon (born September 27, 1961) is an author and educator. His writings include ''Complete Guide to Online High Schools'' (Degree Press, 2012), ''Bears' Guide to Earning Degrees by Distance Learning'' (Ten Speed Press, 2006), ''Bears' Guide to Earning High School Diplomas Nontraditionally'' (2003), and ''Bears' Guide to the Best Education Degrees by Distance Learning'' (2001). He has written extensively on distance learning, online high schools, and financial aid for print and online publications. Nixon's latest area of interest is online high schools and school libraries. He is married to the former Elizabeth Heisinger and is the father of three children. In addition to a son, he has two daughters who were adopted from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. He is a graduate of California State University, Fresno with a bachelor's and a master's degrees in linguistics. He manages Online Learning and Library Services for Fresno Unified School District. Thomas Nixon (cricketer, Born 1815)
Thomas Nixon (1815–1877) was an English professional cricketer and inventor. In addition to being one of the leading slow lob bowlers of the 1850s, he was responsible for important advances in the development of cricketing equipment; notably cane-handled bats and open-cane batting pads. He also patented an early mechanical bowling machine. Cricket career Nixon was born on 4 June 1815 in Nottingham. He was originally a lace maker by profession and he did not make his debut for Nottinghamshire until 1841. He continued to play sporadically for the County but his career only really blossomed when he joined the MCC staff at Lord's in 1851, taking 9 wickets in an innings and 14 in the match for MCC against Middlesex in his debut season. Over the next decade he established himself as one of the leading slow bowlers in the Country and represented the All England Eleven, the Players and played in the important annual North versus the South matches. Thomas Nixon (cricketer, Born 1843)
Thomas Henry Nixon (24 April 1843 – 23 January 1907) was an English first-class cricketer and umpire. The son of the cricketer Thomas Nixon senior, he was born in April 1843 at Sneinton, Nottinghamshire. Nixon was engaged on the staff at Lord's, playing first-class cricket for the Marylebone Cricket Club. He played one first-class match for the Marylebone Cricket Club in 1862 against Middlesex, in addition to playing a second first-class match for the Professionals of Marylebone Cricket Club against the Gentlemen of Marylebone Cricket Club in 1867. He scored 15 runs across his two matches, in addition to taking 4 wickets with his right-arm slow-medium bowling. While engaged on the staff as Lord's, Nixon also stood as an umpire in seventeen first-class matches between 1862 and 1882. Nixon died at Hillingdon in January 1907. Thomas Nixon (25 May 1931 – November 2003) is an English former amateur footballer who played as a wing half in the Football League for Darlington. He was on the books of Newcastle United without playing for their first team. Nixon came into the Darlington side at left half as one of several team changes for the visit to Halifax Town in the Third Division North on 1 December 1951. They lost 4–1, and that was his only senior appearance.
