Thomas Morrissey (Jesuit)
Fr. Thomas "Tom" J. Morrissey, born in 1929 in Limerick (Ireland), is an Irish Jesuit priest. historian, teacher and writer. He was the fifth Director of Education at the College of Industrial Relations (National College of Ireland) from 1983 to 1989. Fr. Thomas was born in Limerick and was educated at Crescent College. He entered the Jesuit Order in 1948. He studied history at University College Dublin and graduated with a master's degree. In 1976 he was awarded a doctorate in education at University College Cork. He taught at Sacred Heart College, Limerick and at Mungret College from 1963 to 1968. He played a major role in the planning and development of Crescent College Comprehensive S.J. in Limerick and was its headmaster from 1969 until 1982. Edward Joseph Byrne
Edward Joseph Byrne (10 May 1872 – 9 February 1940) was an Irish prelate of the Catholic Church. He served as Archbishop of Dublin from 1921 until his death in 1940. Early life and education Byrne was born in Dublin to Edward and Eleanor (née Maguire) Byrne. His father was a farmer from County Wicklow. There were three children in the family, all boys, and Edward was the only one not to die in infancy. He studied at Belvedere College and Holy Cross College, Clonliffe before proceeding for theological studies at the Irish College, Rome. He was ordained a priest on 8 June 1895 at St. John Lateran. Ministry His first post was as curate to Rush, County Dublin from 1895–98. He then moved to Kilsallaghan and Rolestown from 1898–99. The following year he spent at Howth before moving to Blackrock. James Archer (Jesuit)
James Archer (1550–1620) was an Irish Roman Catholic priest of the Society of Jesus who played a highly controversial role in both the Nine Years War and in the military resistance to both the House of Tudor's religious persecution of the Catholic Church in Ireland and the Elizabethan wars against both Gaelic Ireland and the Irish clans. During the final decade of the reign of Queen Elizabeth I, Fr. James Archer became a leading figure of hate in the anti-Catholic propaganda of the English government, but his most lasting achievement was his role in the establishment and strengthening of the Irish Colleges in Catholic Europe during the Counter-Reformation. Early life Archer came from an Anglo-Norman family in County Kilkenny.
