Thomas Lowe (tenor)
Thomas Lowe (c. 1719 – 1 March 1783) was an English tenor and actor. He appeared at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane and at Covent Garden, and frequently performed in London's pleasure gardens. He was particularly associated with the works of Thomas Arne and George Frideric Handel. Life Lowe sang as a child: in May 1732 he sang in Handel's oratorio ''Esther'' at the King's Theatre. His career as a tenor is first known in August 1740, when he took part in the masque ''Alfred'' by Thomas Arne, at its first performance at Cliveden, country home of Frederick, Prince of Wales. He first appeared at Theatre Royal, Drury Lane in London in September 1740, as Sir John Loverule in ''The Devil to Pay'' by Charles Coffey. During his first two seasons there he played Macheath in ''The Beggar's Opera'', Bacchanal in Arne's ''Comus'' and Arne's songs in the incidental music for several productions. Thomas Hill Peregrine Furye Lowe (21 December 1781 – 17 January 1861) was an English cleric. s:Alumni Oxonienses: the Members of the University of Oxford, 1715-1886/Lowe, Thomas (Hill Peregrine Furye) He was Dean of Exeter from 1839 to his death. Life He was the son of Thomas Humphrey Lowe and Lucy Hill, daughter of Thomas Hill. He matriculated at Trinity College, Oxford in 1799, graduating B.A. in 1803, and M.A. in 1805. In 1804 he entered Lincoln's Inn. Lowe was a curate at Shelsley Beauchamp, Worcestershire, in 1810. In 1812 he had a post as domestic chaplain with Henry Hall Gage, 4th Viscount Gage, and in 1814 another curacy, at Diddlebury in Shropshire. In 1820 he became vicar of Grimley, Worcestershire. Thomas Lowe (politician)
Thomas F. Lowe (January 15, 1812November 18, 1875) was a Georgia musician, businessman, and politician who served as the acting mayor of Atlanta, during the early part of the American Civil War. In 1858, T. F. Lowe was elected as an alderman representing Atlanta's Second Ward. Lowe and fellow future Atlanta mayor William Ezzard were among a group of investors that chartered the Atlanta Mutual Insurance and Stock Company in 1859. In November 1861, he took over as Atlanta's mayor after incumbent Jared Whitaker was appointed to head the commissary and logistics activities for Georgia's state troops. He was not a candidate for election to a full term, and was succeeded by James M. Calhoun. He was commissioned as a colonel in the Georgia state militia. Thomas Hunter Lowe
Thomas Hunter Lowe (January 8, 1928 – June 13, 1984) was Judge, Maryland Court of Special Appeals (1973-1984), Speaker of the Maryland House of Delegates (1969-1973), and Delegate to Maryland General Assembly (1958-1973). The Delegates' Office Building was named for him in 1973. Biography Lowe was born in McDaniel, Maryland in 1928 to Louise Price and Denton Scott Lowe. He attended Baltimore City College, though his term there was interrupted by World War II. Piccadilly Mill, also known as Bank Top Mill or Drinkwater's Mill, owned by Peter Drinkwater, was the first cotton mill in Manchester, England, to be directly powered by a steam engine, and the 10th such mill in the world. Construction of the four-storey mill on Auburn Street started in 1789 and its 8 hp Boulton and Watt engine was installed and working by 1 May 1790. Initially the engine drove only the preparatory equipment and spinning was done manually. Thomas Edward Lowe (born 21 August 1975 in Bexley, London) is a radio broadcaster in the United Kingdom. Tom currently presents on BBC Radio Gloucestershire. Tom started working for radio stations operating under a Restricted Service Licence, or RSL, including Thanet Local Radio (now KMFM Thanet), which was based in Ramsgate, Kent. Thomas Peter Lowe (born 23 April 1978, Stockport, England) is an English-born singer and actor. Personal life Tom Lowe was born in Stockport, England to his parents, Peter and Margaret Lowe.
