Thomas Lamb (industrial Designer)
Thomas Babbit Lamb (1896–1988) was an American industrial designer. He is best known for his innovative handle designs closely modeled on the mechanics of the human hand. Biography Lamb was born in New York City on September 18, 1896. From the age of 14, he apprenticed himself to a plastic surgeon, doing medical drawings in exchange for anatomy lessons, and worked in a textile design shop. In the evenings he studied figure drawing and painting at the Art Students League of New York. Lamb also studied merchandising at Columbia University. This combination of anatomy, art, and business was integral to Thomas Lamb's career as a designer. Textile design At seventeen, Thomas Lamb opened his own textile design firm, specializing in advertising, fashion, and magazine illustration. His bedspreads, napkins, and draperies became very popular in the 1920s and were featured in many of the New York Department stores including Lord & Taylor, Macy's and Saks Fifth Avenue. Thomas Phillipps Lamb (1752–1819) was an English politician. Life Lamb was the son of Thomas Lamb, many times mayor of Rye, Sussex, and his wife Dorothy Eyles, daughter of the Rev. George Eyles, vicar of Turk Dean. He was Member of Parliament (MP) for Rye from 1812 until his death. Family Lamb married in 1774 Elizabeth Davis, daughter of William Davis of Rye. They had three sons and two daughters. Of the sons, Thomas was a priest in the Church of England and held incumbencies at Windlesham, Bagshot, West Hackney and the City of London. Tom Lamb (businessman)
Lamb Air Ltd. was a Canadian airline that began operations in 1934 in The Pas, Manitoba, and went out of business in 1981. History Tom Lamb was the son of Thomas Henry Peacock (THP) Lamb, who had emigrated from England in the late 19th century. THP Lamb turned from school teacher to fur trader and in 1900, started Lamb's Store in Moose Lake, Manitoba. Tom and his brothers and sisters grew up in northern Manitoba and worked for their father. Tom Lamb left school before finishing grade 3. Later in life, he would make the comment, while giving his acceptance speech when receiving his honorary Doctorate of law from the University of Manitoba, "If I had only gotten to grade 4". At the age of 10, Tom, who had his own team of horses and sleigh, was competing with grown men in the fish hauling business. Tom Lamb (footballer)
Tom Lamb (born 19 October 1996) is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played for the West Coast Eagles in the Australian Football League (AFL). Tom Lamb is the son of Wayne Lamb, who played for and during the 1990s, and the grandson of St Kilda's 1966 premiership winning ruckman, Ian Cooper. As a junior, Lamb played at Edithvale-Aspendale Junior Football Club. AFL career Lamb was drafted to the Eagles in the 2014 AFL Draft. He made his AFL debut in Round 1, 2015 against the Western Bulldogs starting as the substitute. After coming on late in the game, Lamb gathered 10 touches, took 4 marks and scored a goal as the Eagles lost by 10 points to the home team. He was delisted by West Coast at the end of the 2017 season.
