Thomas Koenis
Thomas Petrus A. Koenis (born 11 December 1989) is a Dutch retired basketball player. Standing at 2.10 m (6 ft 11 in), he played at the center position. He started his career with the Den Helder Seals in 2007, before signing with West-Brabant Giants in 2009. After two seasons for the Giants, Koenis signed with Donar. In 2015, he signed with ZZ Leiden where he stayed for two seasons before returning to Donar. Koenis played 15 season of professional basketball, with nine of them being with Donar. After his career, Koenis' number 14 was retired by the club to honour him. In international play, Koenis represented the Netherlands men's national basketball team in 41 games. ZZ Leiden Basketball, also known as Zorg en Zekerheid Leiden, is a basketball club based in Leiden, Netherlands. The club plays in the BNXT League, the domestic first tier league. Their home games are played at Vijf Meihal, which has 2,000 seats. 2018 Dutch Basketball Supercup
The 2018 Dutch Basketball Supercup was the 7th edition of the Dutch Basketball Supercup. The game was played in the MartiniPlaza in Groningen. The game featured Donar Groningen, Donar, the defending champions of the 2017–18 Dutch Basketball League, Dutch Basketball League, and ZZ Leiden, the runner-up of the 2017–18 NBB Cup. Dutch Basketball League
The Dutch Basketball League (DBL), formerly the Eredivisie, was the highest professional basketball league in the Netherlands, run by the Federatie Eredivisie Basketball (FEB). Since 2021, the league has been replaced by the Belgian-Dutch BNXT League. The league had a closed system: to participate, a team has to have enough money and potential. The league began in 1960 as the ''Eredivisie'' and was organized by the NBB and later the FEB. In 1977 the league introduced play-offs. As of 2019, the Dutch Basketball League consists of ten teams and plays under the FIBA rules. Bergen Op Zoom
Bergen op Zoom (; called ''Berrege'' in the local dialect) is a municipality and a city located in the south of the Netherlands. Etymology The city was built on a place where two types of soil meet: sandy soil and marine clay. The sandy soil pushed against the marine clay, accumulating and forming hills over several centuries. West-Brabant Giants was a Dutch professional basketball club based in Bergen op Zoom. The club was established in 2003 and dissolved in 2011. The team played its games at Sporthal de Boulevard and its main colors were red and white. History The club was established in 2003 and was called Fun 4 All, for sponsorship reasons. The club entered the Dutch Basketball League, and ended 10th in the regular season.
