Thomas Huber (artist)
Thomas Huber (born 14 July 1955, in Zurich) is a Swiss artist who lived and worked in Mettmann near Düsseldorf for several years and is currently resident in Berlin. Biography From 1977 to 1978 Huber studied at the Kunstgewerbeschule Basel with Franz Fedier, in 1979 at the Royal College of Art, London, and from 1980 to 1983 at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf (as a master student of Fritz Schwegler). From 1992 to 1999 he was professor at the Hochschule für Bildende Künste Braunschweig and in 1992 interim director of the Centraal Museum, Utrecht. Together with Bogomir Ecker, he initiated and realised the "Künstlermuseum" in 2001, the reconfiguration of the Museum Kunstpalast's collection in Düsseldorf. Between 2000 and 2002 Huber was chairman of the Deutscher Künstlerbund (German Artists Association). Work Thomas Huber is an artist who fuses image and text and lectures on his pictures. Museum Kunstpalast
The Kunstpalast, formerly Kunstmuseum Düsseldorf is an art museum in Düsseldorf. History The roots of the museum go back around 300 years. In 1932, the collection of the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf (Academy of Art) was housed in the Kunstmuseum Düsseldorf. This included the exhibits given by the popular regent Jan Wellem, Duke of Palatinate, and his wife Anna Maria Luisa de' Medici, and some rich citizens of Düsseldorf. The academy had been founded in 1710, its collection expanded in the 19th century by the collection of Lambert Krahe. The Düsseldorfer Gallerieverein, founded in the 19th century, collected many drawings of the Düsseldorfer Malerschule, later given to that collection. The Museum for Advanced Arts, whose opening was in 1883, merged with that museum later. The Kunstmuseum in its actual form opened in 1913. Aargauer Kunsthaus
Aargauer Kunsthaus (English: ''Aargauer Art House'') a Swiss art museum founded in 1959, and located in Aarau. The museum collection includes Swiss art from the 18th-century to the present day; and ''Naturama'', a natural history collection. About Works in the museum art collection include Alberto Giacometti, Jean Tinguely, Richard Long, and Fischli/Weiss. The original building was built between 1956 and 1959 by local architects Loepfe Hänni and Hänngli. In 2003, a new building extension was added to the museum. The architecture firm Herzog & de Meuron–designed the new building. Since 1 July 2020, art historian Katharina Ammann has served as the Director of Aargauer Kunsthaus. MAMCO
The MAMCO () is the contemporary art museum of Geneva, which opened in 1994. The building is a former factory building, with 3000 m2 of exhibition space, it is the largest contemporary art museum of Switzerland. From 1994 to 2015, MAMCO was directed by Christian Bernard; and starting from 2016 until present, MAMCO is directed by Lionel Bovier. The Deutscher Kuenstlerbund (Association of German Artists) was founded in 1903 the initiative of Count Harry Kessler, promoter of arts and artists, Alfred Lichtwark, director of the Hamburg Art Gallery and the famous painters Lovis Corinth, Max Klinger and Max Liebermann among others. Thus a supra-regional association which surpassed the existing secessions came into existence for the first time. Its founders were determined to get rid of the restrictions imposed by the national cultural authorities. Their aim was to ensure the freedom of art, to offer a public forum for different artistic trends and to support young artists.
