Thomas Henley (Australian Politician)
Sir Thomas Henley KBE (4 February 1860 – 14 May 1935) was an Australian politician, elected as a member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly. Early years Henley was born in Wootton Bassett, Wiltshire, England and after basic education worked in the building industry for about ten years until he migrated to Sydney in about 1884. He married Charlotte Smith in 1886. He became a property developer and continued to build up his business during the depression of the 1890s, including acquiring Sydney Harbour ferry companies. He was an alderman for Drummoyne Council from 1898 to 1934, including four periods as Mayor. Political career Henley was elected to the Legislative Assembly in 1904 representing Burwood as a member of the Liberal Reform Party, Nationalist Party and United Australia Party until 1935, except for the period of proportional representation (1920–1927), when he was a member for Ryde. Herbert Henley
Herbert Sydney Henley (27 October 1889 – 4 October 1966) was an Australian politician. He was born in Balmain, the son of Sir Thomas Henley and Charlotte Smith. He attended Sydney Grammar School and Hawkesbury Agricultural College, becoming a farmer near Cowra. On 15 February 1919 he married Stella Evans, with whom he had two sons. He served on Waugoola Shire Council from 1920 to 1922 (as president) and from 1935 to 1941. Gordon Jackett
Harry Gordon Jackett (6 July 1887 – 3 May 1951) was an Australian politician and a member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly from 1935 and 1938 and from 1941 until his death. He was variously a United Australia Party (UAP), Independent UAP, Democratic Party and Liberal Party member of parliament . Jackett was born in Laura, South Australia and educated in Adelaide. His father owned a flour milling business which Jackett inherited and enlarged. He commenced a branch of the business in Strathfield, New South Wales in 1918. Jackett was an alderman on Burwood Municipal Council between 1922 and 1935 and was elected mayor in 1935. Jackett was elected to the New South Wales Parliament as the United Australia Party member for Burwood at the 1935 state election, succeeding the retiring UAP member Thomas Henley. At the 1938 election, the UAP endorsed both Jackett and Harrie Mitchell. Mitchell won the seat but Jackett regained it as an Independent UAP candidate in 1941. H ... Edward Lloyd Sanders (2 December 1888 – 10 July 1943) was an Australian politician. He was born at Burwood in Sydney to master carrier Edward Ernest Sanders and Jessie Agnes, ''née'' Lloyd. He attended Burwood Public School and Sydney Grammar School before working in his father's business and eventually becoming a customs and shipping agent. On 14 October 1911 he married Ethel May Hindmarsh at Gerringong, with whom he had three children. Edward Loxton
Edward James Loxton KC (11 October 1864 – 17 February 1935) was an Australian politician. He was born at Neutral Bay to Thomas Loxton and Lucinda Jane, ''née'' Forster. After attending Sydney Grammar School and the University of Sydney ( BA 1886, MA 1888), he was articled to the solicitors' firm Allen & Allen, qualifying but not seeking admission as a solicitor. In 1891 he married Jane Rosa Marshall, with whom he had five children. He was called to the Bar in 1892 and practised in the Equity Court. In the late 1910s he became active in political campaigns, strongly supporting conscription and 6 o'clock closing times. He was elected in 1920 to the New South Wales Legislative Assembly as an independent Nationalist member for Ryde; he joined the Nationalist Party in 1922. Thomas Bavin
Sir Thomas Rainsford Bavin, (5 May 1874 – 31 August 1941) was an Australian lawyer and politician who served as Premier of New South Wales from 1927 to 1930. He was born in New Zealand and arrived in Australia at the age of 15, where he studied law and became a barrister. He served as personal secretary to Australia's first two prime ministers, Edmund Barton and Alfred Deakin. Bavin was elected to the New South Wales Legislative Assembly in 1917. He served two terms as Attorney General of New South Wales (1921, 1922–1925) before leading the Nationalist Party (Australia), Nationalist Party to victory at the 1927 New South Wales state election, 1927 state election, in a coalition with the National Party of Australia – NSW, Country Party. David Anderson (Australian Politician)
David More Anderson (2 February 1865 – 11 February 1936) was an Australian politician. He was born at Glasgow, Scotland, to master painter Archibald Anderson and Elizabeth Buchanan, ''née'' More. He arrived in Australia in 1884, finding work as a grocer, agent and auctioneer in the Leichhardt area of Sydney. Around 1891 he married Emily Amelia Ely Linderman, with whom he had two children; he would later marry Florence May McWhirter and have a further six children. In 1896 he moved to Gladesville and in 1905 to Ryde, serving as an alderman on Ryde Municipal Council from 1896 to 1919 (mayor 1904, 1908, 1913). He continued to work in the real estate and auctioneering business, and also established a brickworks in 1910. In 1920 he was elected to the New South Wales Legislative Assembly as a Nationalist member for Ryde.
