Sir Thomas Hackett (died 1706) was an Irish Jacobite official and merchant. Biography Hackett was the son of James Hackett and Alison White. He was engaged in foreign trade out of Dublin by 1666, and became a banker to many Old English Roman Catholic families in Ireland. In October 1687, he was knighted and appointed Lord Mayor of Dublin by James II of England. Thomas Hackett (British Politician)
Thomas Hackett (14 June 1869 – 9 May 1950) was a British co-operative activist and politician. Born in Smethwick, Hackett left school at the age of thirteen and completed an apprenticeship in engineering. In 1892, he began working at Cadbury's, when he was promoted to night foreman, and then works foreman. He also joined the Ten Acres and Stirchley Co-operative Society, becoming a director in 1894, and served as president from 1923-1946.David E. Lieutenant Colonel Thomas Bernard Hackett (15 June 1836 – 5 October 1880) was born in Riverstown, County Tipperary and was an Irish recipient of the Victoria Cross, the highest and most prestigious award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces. Details He was 21 years old, and a lieutenant in the 23rd Regiment of Foot (later The Royal Welch Fusiliers), British Army during the Indian Mutiny when the following deed took place for which he was awarded the VC. On 18 November 1857 at Secundra Bagh, Lucknow, India, Lieutenant Hackett, with George Monger, rescued a corporal of his Regiment, who was lying wounded and exposed to heavy fire. He also showed conspicuous bravery when, under heavy fire, he ascended the roof and cut the thatch of a bungalow to prevent its being set on fire.
