Thomas Gibb
Thomas Eccleston Gibb (1838 – 6 June 1894) was an English Liberal politician who sat in the House of Commons from 1885 to 1886. Gibb was born at Liverpool. He was clerk of Guardians and Vestry Clerk of St. Pancras. In the 1885 general election, Gibb was elected Member of Parliament for St Pancras East but lost the seat in the 1886 general election. Gibb lived at Bushey, Hertfordshire, and died at the age of 55 Gibb married Mary Humphrey of Shoreditch. Gibb, Livingston & Co
Gibb, Livingston & Co., known in Chinese as Jinkee or Renji, was one of the most important and best-known foreign trading firms in China in the late 19th and the first half of the 20th century. Gibb, Livingston & Co. was established on 1July 1836 in Canton (Guangzhou), by two Scotsmen, Thomas Augustus Gibb and William Potter Livingston, who were originally employees of the British East India Company. and moved to Macao during the First Opium War. It opened the first office at Queen's Road, Hong Kong when the island was ceded to the British as a colony. In 1844 John Darby Gibb opened a branch in Shanghai at the Cadastral Lot No. 2. on Jinkee Road (now ) which was named after the firm. A branch later opened at Foochow ( Fuzhou) mainly for the tea trade and from which the firm's clippers operated. Tommy Gibb
Thomas Gibb (born 13 December 1944) is a Scottish former professional footballer who played as a midfielder. Career Born in Bathgate, Gibbs began his career in junior football with Wallhouse Rose and Bathgate Thistle, before turning professional in 1963 with Partick Thistle. He later played for Newcastle United, Sunderland and Hartlepool United before retiring in 1978. Liskeard (UK Parliament Constituency)
Liskeard was a parliamentary borough in Cornwall, which elected two Members of Parliament (MPs) to the House of Commons from 1295 until 1832, and then one member from 1832 until 1885. The constituency was abolished by the Redistribution of Seats Act 1885. History The parliamentary borough was based upon the community of Liskeard in the south-eastern part of Cornwall. Sedgwick estimated the electorate at 30 in 1740. Namier and Brooke considered it was about 50 in the 1754–1790 period. The right of election before 1832 was in the freemen of the borough. This constituency was under the patronage of the Eliot family, which acquired the predominant interest by 1722. There were no contested elections between at least 1715 and 1802. In the early 19th century the Whigs attempted to expand the electorate to include householders.
