Thomas Gallagher (July 6, 1850 – February 24, 1930) was a U.S. Representative from Illinois. Born in Concord, New Hampshire, Gallagher moved to Chicago in 1866. He attended the public schools. Learned the trade of iron molder. He entered the hat business in Chicago in 1878. He served as director of the Cook County State Savings Bank. He served as member of the city council of Chicago 1893-1897. He served as member of the board of education 1897-1903. He served as chairman of the Democratic central committee of Cook County in 1902. He served as president of the Democratic county committee in 1906 and 1907 and a member of the executive committee in 1909, 1911, and 1913. Gallagher was elected as a Democrat to the Sixty-first and to the five succeeding Congresses (March 4, 1909 – March 3, 1921). Thomas Gallagher (November 20, 1883 – March 14, 1967) served as Mayor of Pittsburgh during the transition year of 1959. Early life Gallagher was born in Pittsburgh and started his career as a glassblower in the industrial plants of the region. He ran successfully as a Union representative during his blue collar days. Pittsburgh politics He started his public political career in the Commonwealth Assembly representing Pittsburgh neighborhoods in Harrisburg. In 1933 he came back to the city and was elected City Councilmember. He served in that city legislative post for over twenty years climbing to the leadership position of Council President, one step below Mayor. When David L. Lawrence resigned his post as the city's top executive to assume the governorship of Pennsylvania, Gallagher succeeded him as Mayor. C. Thomas Gallagher III (born February 3, 1944) is an American politician, financier, and insurance agent from the state of Florida and a member of the Republican Party. Gallagher holds the distinction of having served more years as an elected state official than any other individual in Florida history. He began his career in the Florida House of Representatives, where he served from 1974 to 1987. Tommy Gallagher (born 17 August 1942) is an Irish Social Democratic and Labour Party (SDLP) politician who was a Member of the Northern Ireland Assembly (MLA) for Fermanagh and South Tyrone from 1998 to 2011. Born in Ballyshannon, County Donegal, Gallagher attended Queen's University Belfast before becoming a teacher in Belleek, County Fermanagh. Gallagher was elected to represent the Social Democratic and Labour Party in Fermanagh and South Tyrone on the Northern Ireland Forum in 1996, and held his seat on the Northern Ireland Assembly in 1998 and 2003 and 2007, however lost his seat in 2011. Thomas Gerard Philip Gallagher (born 1954) is a Scottish political scientist. He taught politics at the University of Bradford until 2011 and is now Emeritus Professor of Politics at the university. He obtained a BA hons degree in Politics and Modern History from the University of Manchester in 1975 and a Ph.D. from Government from the same institution in 1978. He taught history at Edge Hill College, Lancashire until 1980 before joining the staff at the University of Bradford where he obtained a personal chair in 1996. Thomas Gallagher (born 20 May 1999) is an Australian Paralympic swimmer and surf life saver. He represented Australia at the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics, winning a bronze medal. Personal Gallagher was born and grew up in Perth, Western Australia. He has cerebral palsy and suffers from bouts of pancreatitis.
