Thomas Foster (Yorkshire Cricketer)
Thomas William Foster (12 November 1871 – 31 January 1947) was an English first-class cricketer, who played thirteen matches for Yorkshire County Cricket Club in 1894 and 1895. He also played a first-class game for XI of Yorkshire against XI of Lancashire in 1894, and for the Yorkshire Second XI in 1893. Born in Birkdale, Lancashire, England, Foster was a right arm medium pacer, he took 58 wickets at 16.41, including his career best of 9 for 59 against the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) at Lord's in 1894. He took 5 wickets in an innings five times, and 10 wickets in match on three occasions. Foster also took 7 for 56 against Warwickshire. A right-handed tail ender, he scored 138 runs at 9.20, with a top score of 25. Thomas Norman Foster was an Australian Pentecostal minister. He was one of the co-founders of the Christian Revival Crusade, and is also associated with British Israelism. He was invited by the London B.B.C. to do the Radio News Reel Broadcast to Australia of the Coronation procession of Queen Elizabeth II, in 1953. Former Commissioner of the British-Israel-World Federation, Victoria., and Y.M.C.A. Representative, A.I.F., Australia. He authored books on British Israelism and the Baptism in the Holy Spirit. Early life Foster was born child of nine in Mornington Victoria. Before starting his religious studies, Foster worked at the National Bank of Australia, Casterton. Foster then studied Christian ministry under the teachings of Rev E.E. Baldwin at the Presbyterian Training College, Carlton. Thomas Foster (1798 – 1826) was an Irish portrait painter. Life Thomas Foster was born in Dublin between 1796 and 1798. He enrolled in the Dublin Society School in 1811. Foster died by suicide in March 1826 aged 29. He shot himself in a hotel in Piccadilly, London. In a letter he stated his friends had abandoned him and that he had grown tired of life. It is unclear if he was troubled by the large commission he received from John Wilson Croker or by an unrequited love for a young woman who was the subject of one of his portraits. Career He was awarded a premium for 2 portraits and a subject picture in 1815 which were exhibited with Hibernian Society of Artists, and a painting titled ''The Adoration of the Shepherds'' exhibited on Hawkins Street. In 1816 he exhibited ''Hercules throwing Lychas into the Sea'', and in 1817 two works, ''Portrait'' and ''Christ taken down from the Cross''. This is a complete list, in alphabetical order, of cricketers who played for Nottingham Cricket Club in first-class cricket matches. Nottingham played a total of 15 first-class matches, 13 of them between 1826 and 1834 and two in 1848 after the establishment of Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club in 1841. Teams played under the Nottinghamshire name from 1829 onwards and many of the players listed also played for Nottinghamshire teams. Much Wenlock (UK Parliament Constituency)
Much Wenlock, often called simply Wenlock, was a constituency of the House of Commons of the Parliament of England until 1707, then of the Parliament of Great Britain from 1707 to 1800, and finally of the Parliament of the United Kingdom from 1801 to 1885, when it was abolished. It was named after the town of that name in Shropshire. The seat was founded in 1468 as a borough constituency and was represented throughout its history by two burgesses. Thomas Foster (15 December 1848 – 22 March 1929) was an English cricketer who played for Derbyshire between 1873 and 1884. He topped the scoring for the club in three seasons. Foster was born in Mill Town, Glossop, the son of Robert Foster a cotton weaver.British Census 1881 He started playing cricket for local Glossop clubs but went professional with the Clifford Club, in Manchester in 1872. In the following 1873 season, Foster made his debut for Derbyshire in a match against Lancashire playing in the middle order to make 17 and 8, although the match was lost. He made a similar performance in one match in the 1874 season in a victory against Kent, when he also took a wicket. Foster came into his own during the 1875 season, making several excellent appearances at the crease in the middle-order during this season in some good wins for Derbyshire.
