Thomas F. Schweigert
Thomas F. Schweigert (September 29, 1917 – July 9, 2001) was an American politician who served as a member of the Michigan Senate and as acting lieutenant governor of Michigan. Early life and education Born in Detroit, Michigan, Schweigert attended Highland Park Community High School. He graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in forestry. Career Schweigert began his career United States Forest Service before founding a private forestry management company. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He served on the Emmet County, Michigan Board of Commissioners. Schweigert then served in the Michigan State Senate from 1961 to 1971 as a Republican. Schweigert was President of the Michigan Senate and acting lieutenant governor of Michigan in 1969, serving under Governor William G. Milliken. Robert William Davis
Robert William Davis (July 31, 1932 – October 16, 2009) was an American politician from the state of Michigan. He represented the state's 11th congressional district, which at that time included the Upper Peninsula and a large portion of Northern Michigan, in the United States House of Representatives from 1979 until 1993. Early life Davis was born in Marquette, Michigan. His family moved to St. Ignace soon after his birth, where he attended public schools. He graduated from LaSalle High School in 1950. He attended Northern Michigan University, Hillsdale College, and the College of Mortuary Sciences at Wayne State University. Before entering politics, Davis served as Funeral Director at the Davis Funeral Home in St. Ignace. The Church of Christ, Scientist was founded in 1879 in Boston, Massachusetts, by Mary Baker Eddy, author of '' Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures,'' and founder of Christian Science.
