Thomas Dunn (bishop)
Thomas Dunn (28 July 1870 – 21 September 1931) was an English prelate of the Roman Catholic Church. He served as the fifth Bishop of Nottingham from 1916 until his death in 1931. Life Born in Marylebone, London on 28 July 1870, he was ordained to the priesthood on 2 February 1893 at Westminster, after which he acted as chaplain at the Visitation at Harrow. In 1895 he was appointed a Private Chamberlain, was made chancellor of Westminster in 1902. In 1906 Dunn was made rector at Staines. On 3 January 1916, Dunn was appointed the fifth Bishop of Nottingham by Pope Benedict XV. He received his episcopal consecration on the following 25 February from Cardinal Francis Bourne, Archbishop of Westminster, with Bishops Peter Amigo of Southwark and William Cotter of Portsmouth serving as co-consecrators. Thomas Dunn (lieutenant-governor)
Thomas Dunn (1729 – 15 April 1818) was the Lieutenant-Governor of Lower Canada from 1805 to 1807. He was born in Durham, England, and came to the town of Quebec shortly after its surrender in 1760. With his partner, John Gray, he obtained the trading lease to the king's posts, which gave them a monopoly in the fur trade and fishing on the north coast of the Saint Lawrence River. Dunn also purchased the seigneury of Mille-Vaches. Dunn was also the owner of the Cape Diamond Brewery at Quebec City. Thomas Dunn (musician)
Thomas Burt Dunn (December 21, 1925 – October 26, 2008) was an American musician, conductor and music editor known for his performances of Baroque music. He is considered an important figure in the development of the 20th-century early music revival and adoption of historically informed performance practices in the United States. Early years Dunn was born in Aberdeen, South Dakota, on December 21, 1925, and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, the son of educator Wendell E. Dunn and younger brother of chemical engineer-inventor Wendell E. Dunn, Jr. He was also the nephew of civil engineer Everett Dunn. He loved music as a child and at about age 11 he was named assistant organist of a Baltimore church. At 16 he became the organist of another local church and was named director of its professional choir not long afterward. Tom Dunn (golf Course Architect)
Thomas Dunn (29 December 1849 – May 1902) was a golfer, golf club maker and prolific architect of many golf courses in the early 20th century. Less celebrated than his contemporary, Old Tom Morris, Dunn created many functional layouts and helped lead the development of courses away from the coast into inland heathland locations, notably many around London. In total, Dunn had four top-10 finishes in the Open Championship. Early life Dunn was born in Musselburgh, the son of Willie Dunn Snr (1821–1878). Willie Dunn Snr and his twin brother, Jamie, were notable golfers of their time, playing against Allan Robertson and Old Tom Morris. Willie was apprenticed under the Gourlay family. At the time of Tom's birth, Willie Dunn Snr was greenkeeper at Blackheath where he remained until 1864. Tom Dunn (May 1, 1929–July 2, 2006) was an News presenter, anchor and reporter at several New York City, New York and Florida television stations. Dunn was born in Warwick (village), New York, Warwick, New York, and was a child actor at radio station WNYM, WAAT in Newark, New Jersey. He started in television at WCTV in Tallahassee, Florida in 1959 after leaving the army. He served as press secretary to U.S. Representative (and later Senator) Ed Gurney (R-FL), then worked as an anchor and reporter for WTVT in Tampa, Florida from 1962 to 1964 before moving to WCBS-TV where he worked from 1964 to 1968. Mr. Dunn served in that same role for WABC-TV from 1969 to 1970 and at WWOR-TV, WOR-TV from 1971 to 1987. Among his duties at WOR was anchoring the long-running ''News at Noon''. He later worked for WPTV-TV in West Palm Beach, where he did weekend evening and late night news until his retirement in the late 1990s.
