Thomas Dent (lawyer)
Thomas Ijams Dent (November 14, 1831 – December 25, 1924) was a prominent Chicago lawyer. Biography Dent was born in Hennepin, Illinois, the son of George Dent and Comfort (Ijams) Dent. George Dent held a number of elective offices in Putnam County, including clerk of the circuit and county courts, county judge, and member of the Illinois House of Representatives in 1853 and 1864. Thomas Dent was educated at public schools in Illinois and Ohio, and then, at age 15, became permanently employed as his father's assistant. After studying law on his own, Dent was admitted to the bar in 1854, at which time he established a law practice in Hennepin, Illinois. He moved to Chicago in 1856, forming a legal partnership with Martin R. M. Wallace. Dent married Susan Strawn in 1857. Also in 1857, he moved to Peoria, Illinois, but was back in Chicago the next year, and in 1860 formed a partnership (Arrington & Dent) with Judge A. W. Thomas Dent (Ontario Politician)
Thomas Roy Dent (April 22, 1891 – July 18, 1977) was a farmer and politician in Ontario, Canada. He represented Oxford in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 1943 to 1955 as a Conservative. The son of Thomas Harrison Dent and Elizabeth Paddon, he was born in Woodstock and was educated there and at the Ontario Agricultural College. In 1920, Dent married Susan M. Griffin. Thomas Covington Dent (March 20, 1932 – June 6, 1998) was an African-American poet and writer. Early life and education Thomas Dent was born on March 20, 1932, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to Albert W. Dent, president of Dillard University, and Ernestine Jessie Covington Dent, a concert pianist. He was the oldest of three sons. Thomas graduated from Oakwood School in 1948.Oakwood School, Class of 1948 Graduation Program He continued his education at Morehouse College receiving a bachelor's degree in political science in 1952. Thomas furthered his education at Syracuse University eventually receiving his doctorate in international studies in 1956. Dent was a member of the U.S. Army for two years, 1957–59. Thomas Emmett Dent (born January 11, 1950) is an American politician who serves as a member of the Washington House of Representatives representing the 13th Legislative District. He was elected in 2014 to the House seat vacated by Judy Warnick, who retired to run for the Washington State Senate. He is a former chairman of the Grant County Republican Party. Dent has been a pilot since 1975, founding Tom Dent Aviation in Othello in 1977. The company moved to Moses Lake in 1984. He was appointed as a commissioner for Moses Lake Municipal Airport in 1994. Thomas Henry Dent (1879 – 11 September 1929) was an Australian cricketer and banker who played first-class cricket for Hawke's Bay in New Zealand in 1901 and 1902. Playing for Scinde in Napier club cricket in 1900-01, Dent took 67 wickets with his leg-spin at an average of 7.36. He played his first first-class match for Hawke's Bay in January 1901, taking 5 for 46 and 3 for 60 in an innings victory over Auckland. In his next match three months later, against Wellington, he took 9 for 47 and 3 for 63. The match finished in a draw with Hawke's Bay, needing 132 for victory, 123 for 8 at stumps on the second and final day. He played his fifth and last match for Hawke's Bay in January 1902, taking 3 for 66 and 5 for 87 and scoring 56 and 30 not out in a six-wicket victory over Canterbury.
