Thomas Daniel (merchant)
Thomas Daniel (16 September 17626 April 1854) was a slave owner and sugar merchant in Bristol who was known as the "King of Bristol" and later in life "Father of Bristol" because of his omnipotence in corporate affairs for over 50 years. Across the Americas he owned plantations worked by enslaved Africans and people of African descent. He was a partner in Bristol businesses and owned ships linked directly to thslave economy The extent of his family's company Thomas Daniel & Sons in Bristol and Thomas Daniel & Co. in London (founded by his father) slave ownership was such that when slavery was abolished in 1834 the British Government awarded them one of the largest compensation awards in the UK for the ownership of 4,967 enslaved people. There is no evidence that he was involved in buying or transporting people in Africa to sell as slaves in the Americas. Daniel provided mortgages for plantation owners. Thomas Daniel (biologist)
Thomas Louis Daniel (born 1954) is an American biologist, Joan and Richard Komen Endowed Chair of Biology at University of Washington, and leads the Daniel Lab. He was the interim director of the National Science Foundation Engineering Research Center for Sensorimotor Neural Engineering. Since 2006, he has served on the Scientific Advisory Board for the Allen Institute for Brain Science. Thomas graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a BS and MS, and from Duke University with a PhD, where he studied with Steven Vogel and Stephen Wainwright. ''The Blue Seal'' is a 2010 Canadian action drama film directed by Mike Donis and starring John Kraft, Thomas Daniel, Warren Bain, and Alan A. Leyland. Thomas Franklin Daniel (born September 14, 1954) is an American botanist, and teacher. He is a specialist of the botanical family Acanthaceae. In 1975 he obtained his undergraduate from Duke University. In 1980, he obtained his doctorate at the University of Michigan. In 1981, he was assistant professor. Between 1981 and 1985 he was an assistant curator of the Arizona State University Herbarium. Since 1986, Daniel belongs to the California Academy of Sciences where he is Curator of Botany, Emeritus. In 1987 he was a conservation assistant. From 1988 to 1991: assistant curator. In 2009, he was president of the Botany Department, a position he also held between 1988 and 1990 and between 1994 and 1996. Monogram is an American brand and former manufacturing company of scale plastic models of cars, aircraft, spacecraft, ships, and military vehicles since the early 1950s. The company was formed by two former employees of Comet Kits, Jack Besser and Bob Reder. Mattel acquired Monogram in 1968, and the firm passed through various owners and was merged with Revell, the combined company being bought by Hobbico in 2007. Along with Revell, AMT, and MPC, Monogram is sometimes called one of the traditional "Big 4" in plastic modeling. History Monogram was founded in Chicago in 1945, making balsa wood model kits of ships and airplanes.
