Thomas Collier (painter)
Thomas Collier RI (12 November 1840 – 14 May 1891) was an English landscape painter. Biography Collier was born in Glossop in Derbyshire, the son of Martha Siddall and Thomas Collier, who was a prosperous grocer and tea dealer. He received tuition at the Manchester School of Art and, inspired by David Cox's example, lived at Betws-y-Coed in northern Wales between 1864 and 1869. He moved to London in about 1870 on being elected to the New Water Colour Society. Collier was a close friend of Charles Stuart Millard, the Canadian-born painter (who moved to England before 1879 and was employed as an instructor at the South Kensington Art School, before taking up an appointment as Headmaster at the Cheltenham School of Art). Although not a prolific worker or exhibitor, he is regarded as one of the finest of English landscape watercolourists. Thomas Collier (Unitarian)
Thomas Collier (c. 1615 – c. 1691) was an English General Baptist preacher, evangelist, and Arian polemicist. Life Thomas Edwards in his ''Gangræna'' alleged that Collier originally was an illiterate carter or husbandman. In 1634, when he is described as of Witley, Surrey, he was complained of for obstinately refusing to pay taxations in the tithing of Enton, in the parish of Godalming, where he had an estate. The taxes included the ship money which Charles I of England had tried to levy without the consent of Parliament. Becoming a Baptist and preacher, though without academic education, he preached for some time in Guernsey, where he made many converts, but ultimately he and some of his followers were banished from the island for their views and turbulent behaviour, and he was imprisoned at Portsmouth. Tom Collier (musician)
Tom Collier is a multi-instrumental percussionist and Vibraphone, vibraphonist, with a career in music spanning more than fifty years. He has performed and recorded as a session musician with many important jazz, classical, and popular artists. He has also performed and recorded with his own jazz group and has released solo albums. He joined the faculty at the University of Washington in 1980. Childhood Collier was born in Puyallup, Washington on June 30, 1948 and grew up in Seattle, Washington. His parents were professional musicians; Ward Collier, known to his friends as "Whitey", played trumpet in various lounge bands around the Seattle/Tacoma area. His mother, Ethel, often played piano in her husband's quartet. Tom Collier (born 25 March 1989) is a former Australian rules footballer for the Brisbane Lions in the Australian Football League (AFL). In 2006 Tom Collier graduated from the AIS/AFL Academy. The next year he returned to his home state of Tasmania to play for the Tassie Mariners. That same year he played for the Tasmanian Under-18 side as captain and was named in the All-Australian Under-18 team.
