Thomas Charlton (died 11 January 1344)Fryde ''Handbook of British Chronology'' p. 250 was Bishop of Hereford, Lord High Treasurer of England, Lord Privy Seal, and Lord Chancellor of Ireland. He is buried in Hereford Cathedral in Hereford, Herefordshire, England. Family Charlton was born near Wellington, Shropshire, younger son of Robert de Charleton of Apley, a small landowner. Thomas' eldest brother was John Charleton, 1st Baron Cherleton, who became a statesman of some importance. Both brothers were in the household of Edward II, and Thomas received numerous ecclesiastical preferments. Middlesex was a constituency of the House of Commons of the Parliament of England, then of the Parliament of Great Britain from 1707 to 1800, then of the Parliament of the United Kingdom from 1801 until abolished in 1885. It returned two members per election by various voting systems including hustings. Thomas Charlton (speaker)
Thomas Charlton (1417?–1465) was a speaker for House of Commons of England in 1454. He was the son and heir of Sir Thomas Charlton of Hillingdon (d. 1445), land owner and MP. By 1441 Thomas Jr. had entered Henry VI's household as one of the esquires of the hall and chamber. In 1442 he was elected to the first of six parliaments in which he served as knight of the shire for Middlesex. He inherited extensive estates from his parents in over five counties and again represented Middlesex in the Parliaments of 1447 and 1449-50. He was knighted around 1453. In 1453 he once again sat in parliament for Middlesex, when Richard, Duke of York made his claim to the throne during Henry VI's illness. The speaker for the House of Commons, Thomas Thorpe, was arrested on York's orders and on 16 February 1454. Charlton was elected in his place until April 1454. Thomas Malcolm Charlton FRSE (1 September 1923 – 1 February 1997) was a British civil engineer and historian. He is remembered for several notable textbooks on structural issues. He was a great lover of railways and railway engines. Life He was born on 1 September 1923, in South Normanton, Derbyshire, the son of William Charlton, a mining engineer, and Emily May Wellbank. His early education was at Doncaster Grammar School and then Doncaster Technical College. His university education began at London University, graduating BSc in 1943, but was the interrupted by the Second World War, which also caused a relocation of studies to University College Nottingham (under Prof C H Bulleid). Thomas Jackson Charlton Jr. (March 5, 1833 – December 8, 1886) was a 19th-century American physician. He was assistant surgeon in both the Confederate States Navy and the United States Navy. Life and career Charlton was the son of Thomas Charlton Sr. and Sarah Margaret Waters. He graduated from Savannah Medical College in 1855 or 1856. In 1857, he was appointed assistant surgeon in the United States Navy. He remained in the role for three years, then took a similar role in the Georgia Navy. In 1860, he married Julia Catherine Crane, daughter of Heman Averill Crane. He became assistant surgeon in the Confederate States Navy in 1862. He was captured by the USS ''Wachusett'' while aboard the CSS ''Florida'' in the harbor of Bahia, Brazil, in September 1864, and held prisoner in Fort Warren in Boston harbor.
