Thomas Carroll (martial Artist)
Thomas "Lapuppet" Carroll, (7 February 1938 – 20 March 1999) was a pioneer African-American martial artist, and also a member of USA Karate Hall of Fame, and the Black Belt Hall of Fame. of Brooklyn, New York. He was also a member of the US Ju-Jitsu Federation, but focussed on Shotokan karate. Carrol died from cancer in March 1999. Early life Thomas Carroll LaPuppet born in South Carolina in 1938, and died on March 23, 1999. He was raised in Brooklyn graduating from Franklin K. Lane High School. Tom Carroll (born 14 October 1939) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for the Carlton Football Club in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Nicknamed 'Turkey Tom' because of his family's turkey farm near Ganmain in the Riverina region and was playing full forward for Ganmain in 1956 and kicked over 100 goals in 1960 for Ganmain and initially played with Carlton on six day permits in 1961. Carroll was the first Carlton player since Harry Vallence to lead the VFL's goalkicking at the end of a home-and-away season, scoring 54 goals in 1961 and later being awarded the Coleman Medal after it was decided that the medal should be retrospectively given to the VFL leading goalkickers in the home-and-away season dating back to 1955. Carroll plays as a deep-lying creative central midfielder, and is particularly valued for his high passing percentage accuracy and creativity. Thomas Edward Carroll (September 17, 1936 – September 22, 2021) was a right-handed Major League Baseball shortstop/third baseman/pinch runner who played from 1955 to 1956 and in 1959 for the New York Yankees and Kansas City Athletics. He was tall and he weighed . Baseball career Signed by the Yankees on January 26, 1955 as a bonus rule, bonus baby, Carroll appeared in his first big league game on May 7 of that year. He appeared in a total of 14 games in 1955, collecting two hits in six at-bats for a .333 average. In the World Series that season, he appeared in two games as a pinch-runner but did not get to bat. Thomas Michael Carroll (born November 5, 1952) is a former Major League Baseball pitcher for the Cincinnati Reds. The Reds selected Carroll in the sixth round of the June 1970 Major League Baseball draft out of North Allegheny High School in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania at age 17. At 18, Carroll went 18–5 with a 2.39 earned run average and 148 strikeouts with the Florida State League's Tampa Tarpons. At 20, in 1973, Carroll went 15-9 for AAA Indianapolis. Carroll tossed a no-hitter against Omaha for the Indianapolis Indians in 1974 to improve his career minor league record to 51–33 with a 3.38 ERA when he received his first call to the majors. Thomas Victor Carroll (born 26 November 1961, Newport, New South Wales, Australia) is an Australian former professional surfer from Sydney. He won the Australian Junior Title in 1978, the Pro Juniors in 1977 and 1980, the 1983 and 1984 ASP World Tour, and the 1987 Pipe Masters. He became the first surfing millionaire after signing a contract with Quiksilver in 1989. Pro tour highlights Carroll made the finals of the 1979 Pipe Masters as a world tour rookie, finishing 24th in the world that same year. Thomas Carroll (born 1992 in Clareen, County Offaly, Ireland) is an Irish sportsperson. He plays hurling with his local club Seir Kieran and has been a member of the Offaly senior inter-county team since 2011. Playing career Club Carroll plays his club hurling with the Seir Kieran club and has enjoyed some success. He first came to prominence at juvenile and underage levels, winning a county under-16 'B' title in 2007. Carroll later played for the club's minor team but enjoyed little success in this grade. He is currently a member of the Seir Kieran under-21 and senior teams. He played on the losing side when Seir Kieran were defeated by Coolderry in the 2010 county under-21 final. Thomas King Carroll (April 29, 1793 – October 3, 1873) served as the 21st Governor of the state of Maryland in the United States from 1830 to 1831. He also served as a judge, and in the Maryland House of Delegates from 1816 to 1817. Biography He was born at Kingston Hall, in Somerset County, Maryland on April 29, 1793, the son of Col. Henry James Carroll and Elizabeth (Barnes) King. He was related to Charles Carroll of Carrollton, who was one of the Founding Fathers of the United States. He attended Charlotte Hall School, then in 1802, he entered Washington Academy in Somerset County where he remained for the next eight years. He then become a junior at the University of Pennsylvania and graduated in 1811.
