Thisted County
Thisted County ( da, Thisted Amt) is a former province in Denmark, located on the north-westernmost part of the country It encompassed the westernmost part of the island of Vendsyssel-Thy. It was dissolved in 1970 when the bulk of it was merged into Viborg County while other regions joined the counties of Ringkjøbing and North Jutland. Fjerritslev
Fjerritslev is a town in North Jutland, Denmark. It is located in Jammerbugt Municipality, 13 km north of Løgstør, 37 km northeast of Thisted and 30 km southwest of Aabybro. Until 1 January 2007 Fjerritslev was the seat of the former Fjerritslev Municipality. History Fjerritslev is mentioned in 1487 under the name Fieridsleff. Until the middle of the 1800s Fjerritslev only consisted of a series of spread-out houses and farms. A tavern was built in Fjerritslev in 1840, which began the expansion of the town. Following the tavern was other establishments, including a post office, bank, school and brewery. With the construction of the train station in 1897, the town began to rapidly expand. During the German occupation of Denmark in 1940-45 multiple buildings in the town was occupied by the Germans. Thisted Municipality
Thisted municipality is a municipality (Danish: '' kommune'') in North Jutland Region, Denmark. The municipality covers an area of 1,072 km², and has a total population of 45,549 (2008). The main town and the site of its municipal council is the town of Thisted. On 1 January 2007 Thisted municipality was, as the result of ''Kommunalreformen'' ("The Municipal Reform" of 2007), merged with Hanstholm and Sydthy municipalities to form a new Thisted municipality. Morsø Municipality
Morsø is a municipality (Danish, '' kommune'') in Region Nordjylland in northern Denmark. The municipality is located on the island of Morsø or Mors, an island in the Limfjord, the sound that separates the island of Vendsyssel-Thy from the rest of Jutland Peninsula. The municipality includes the smaller island of Agerø, and covers an area of 368 km². It has a total population of 20,068 (2022). Its mayor is Egon Pleidrup Poulsen, a member of the Social Democrats (''Socialdemokraterne'') political party. The main town and the site of its municipal council is the town of Nykøbing Mors. Thyholm Municipality
Until January 1, 2007 Thyholm was a municipality (Danish, '' kommune'') in the former Ringkjøbing County on the island of Vendsyssel-Thy, a part of the Jutland peninsula in northwest Denmark. The municipality included the island of Jegindø, and it covered an area of 76 km2. It had a total population of 3,577 (2005). Its last mayor was Peter Gade, a member of the Conservative People's Party (''Det Konservative Folkeparti'') political party. The main town and the site of its municipal council was the town of Hvidbjerg. The municipality was located on Thyholm, a peninsula connected to Sydthy by a very narrow stretch of land and road, ca. 1.5 km long and .5 km wide. Except for this narrow land connection Thyholm was surrounded by the waters of the Limfjord, which separates the island of Vendsyssel-Thy on which Thyholm is located from the Jutland peninsula to the south. Counties Of Denmark
The Counties of Denmark ( da, Danmarks amter) were former subdivisions of metropolitan Denmark and overseas territories, used primarily for administrative regions, with each county having its own council with substantial powers. Originally there had been twenty-four counties, but the number was reduced to roughly fourteen in 1970 – the number fluctuated slightly over the next three decades. In 2006 there were thirteen traditional counties as well as three municipalities with county status (the island of Bornholm, which was a county from 1660 until 2002, became a ''regional municipality'' with county powers, but only briefly from 2003 until 2006).
