This Is Serious
''This Is Serious'' is the second solo studio album by American singer Marilyn Martin. Except for two tracks, the album was produced entirely by Jon Astley, who had also produced some of Martin's debut album. Michael Verdick and Patrick Leonard produced "Possessive Love", and Terry Brown produced the album's closing track "Pretender". The album's lead single was "Possessive Love", which was co-written by Madonna and Patrick Leonard, but failed to chart. A second single, "Love Takes No Prisoners," written by Bruce Woolley and Jimmy Scott, was released to similar commercial failure. Background The Jimmy O'Neill-penned track "This Is Serious" had previously been submitted to other artists and had been recorded twice prior to The Silencers' own version on their 1991 album ''Dance to the Holy Man''. Billy Nichols
William Lee Nichols (born 1940) is an American guitarist and soul songwriter from Carrollton, Mississippi. Early years Nichols was one of nine children born to Laura Bell and Tom Sanders. Sanders was a farmer who played blues guitar in his spare time. Inspired by his father and blues musicians he heard on the radio, Nichols taught himself guitar. Aged 14, Nichols' family moved to Springfield, Massachusetts where Nichols played with various bands including a gospel group named The Bells of Harmony. In 1963, Nichols joined Jimmy Vick and The Victors and recorded a single. The group were mentioned in '' Billboard'' and got some local radio airplay but by November, the group broke up. Paul Christian Gordon (October 19, 1963 – February 18, 2016) was an American musician, composer, and producer. A keyboardist and guitarist, he was a member of New Radicals and the keyboardist and rhythm guitarist for the B-52's from 2007 until his death in 2016. Jim Scott is an American record producer and audio engineer, best known for his large body of work as an engineer, and his work as a producer with American rock bands Tedeschi Trucks Band and Wilco. Jay Gruska (; born April 23, 1952) is an American songwriter and composer best known for his film and television scoring, and for writing hit songs for a variety of artists. He has composed musical scores for dozens of TV dramas, with over 500 hours of shows played internationally.
