''DIY'' is a United Kingdom-based music publication, in print and online. Its free print edition is released monthly with a physical circulation of 40,000 in UK venues, clubs and shops. DIY Magazine ''DIY'' was launched in 2002 by then-editor Stephen Ackroyd & Emma Swann as an online-only publication called This Is Fake DIY, named after a song by Scottish indie pop band Bis and staffed largely by a freelance writing team from around the globe. The website features news, reviews and features. In September 2007, DIY was nominated for Best Music Magazine at the annual BT Digital Music Awards, where it was described as "a great mix of humour and pop culture that has become the envy of the internet." The Big Moon
The Big Moon is an English indie rock band, formed in 2014 in London by frontwoman Juliette Jackson. Their debut album, '' Love in the 4th Dimension'', was released on 6 April 2017, containing a number of singles previously released on their EP, ''The Road''. The album was shortlisted for the prestigious Mercury Prize in 2017. They are signed to Fiction Records and have toured internationally. They supported the Pixies on their 2019 UK tour. VANT
Vant (stylised as VANT) are a British indie rock band formed in 2014 by frontman and songwriter Mattie Vant. In 2015, Vant signed to Parlophone Records. The band announced an "indefinite hiatus" in 2017 to take effect at the end of their Last Days of Punk tour during November. The band released a new song, "Propaganda Machine" in December 2018 and teased new music in 2019. Background The band came together in London, while Mattie was working at Dalston venue, Birthdays. Originally from Seaham, Mattie has played in various bands, formulating the style for Vant while living in Brighton. A lot of Vant's lyrical themes deal with political issues, with Mattie citing inspiration from global issues; "My concerns are worldwide things. It's not strictly centred around the UK - it's wars, global conflict, global warming". Hinds (band)
Hinds is a Spanish indie rock band from Madrid, formed in 2011, consisting of Carlotta Cosials (vocals, guitar), Ana García Perrote (vocals, guitar), Ade Martin (bass, backing vocals) and Amber Grimbergen (drums). The original name of the band was Deers, but they changed it at the end of 2014 after a threat of legal action from the similarly named band The Dears. The group chose "Hinds", a word that means "female deers", as the new name of the band and officially implemented the name change on 7 January 2015. They have released three albums, one compilation LP and four singles. ''Menace Beach'' is a video game that was released for the Nintendo Entertainment System by Color Dreams in 1990. Like all Color Dreams games, ''Menace Beach'' was not officially licensed by Nintendo. It was also re-released as part of the '' Maxivision 15-in-1'' multicart. Gameplay According to the game's instruction manual, the player controls a skateboarding hero whose girlfriend, Bunny, has been kidnapped by Demon Dan. An introduction screen shows a shackled Bunny pleading for the player's help. In the game, the hero must use his skateboard and any objects he finds, such as balloons, frogs, bombs and bottles, to defeat ninjas, clowns and disgruntled dock workers before finally confronting the villainous Demon Dan. ''Flyte'' is a 2006 children's novel by Angie Sage and the second book in the ''Septimus Heap'' series. The book's cover was modelled after the in-story book: ''How to Survive Dragon Fostering: A Practykal Guide'' with the Flyte Charm lying on top. ''Flyte'' was released in March 2006 through HarperCollins and Bloomsbury Publishing. Plot The book begins with a "fair haired" boy rowing a canoe to the place where Necromancer DomDaniel drowned, along with his ship. His skeleton climbs into the canoe, while the fair haired boy thinks about exacting his revenge on all the people who underestimated him. Shy Nature
Shyness (also called diffidence) is the feeling of apprehension, lack of comfort, or awkwardness especially when a person is around other people. Spring King
Spring King were a four-piece English garage rock band from Macclesfield, who played at SXSW in 2015. They are "a small-scale, art-pop-punk project based in Manchester". They began as a solo project in 2012 of songwriter and producer Tarek Musa, who also sings and plays drums. Notably, their track "City" was the first song played on Beats 1 by Zane Lowe. Spring King was the supporting act for the Kaiser Chiefs, 'Stay Together Tour' (February - March 2017). They also supported Kasabian at the Victoria Theatre, Halifax and the Royal Albert Hall. Girl Band (Irish Band)
Gilla Band (formerly Girl Band) are an Irish post-punk and noise rock band from Dublin. It was founded in 2011 and comprises vocalist Dara Kiely, guitarist Alan Duggan, bassist Daniel Fox, and drummer Adam Faulkner. Their career began with the 2012 single "In My Head", followed by the track "You're a Dog", which led to them developing live followings in both Ireland and the UK, and a recording contract with Rough Trade in 2015.
