''This Week'' is a news and current affairs radio programme broadcast on RTÉ Radio 1. It airs Sundays between 1300 and 1400. The programme is presented by RTE's former political correspondent David McCullagh, former Washington-based US correspondent Carole Coleman and political reporter Justin McCarthy. The programme is edited by former investigative reporter John Burke. The new programme team was announced by RTE on 3 September 2018, as reported in the Irish Independent and Irish Times. The programme's previous presenters were Brian Dowling and Colm O Mongain. They departed the programme when O Mongain became the news station's Deputy Foreign Editor and Brian Downing left journalism after a long career in print and broadcasting to become Head of Editorial Standards and Compliance in RTE. RTÉ Radio 1
RTÉ Radio 1 ( ga, RTÉ Raidió 1) is an Irish national radio station owned and operated by RTÉ and is the direct descendant of Dublin radio station 2RN, which began broadcasting on a regular basis on 1 January 1926. The total budget for the station in 2010 was €18.4 million. It is the most-listened-to radio station in Ireland. History The Department of Posts and Telegraphs opened 2RN, the first Irish radio station, on 1 January 1926. Station 6CK, a Cork relay of 2RN, joined the Dublin station in 1927, and a high-power transmitter at Athlone in County Westmeath opened in 1932. From the latter date the three stations became known as Radio Athlone, later being renamed Radio Éireann ("Irish Radio"/"Radio of Ireland") in 1937. Donnybrook, Dublin
Donnybrook () is a district of Dublin, Ireland. It is situated on the southside of the city, in the Dublin 4 postal district, and is home to the Irish public service broadcaster Raidió Teilifís Éireann (RTÉ). It was once part of the Pembroke Township. Its neighbouring suburbs are Ballsbridge, Sandymount, Ranelagh and Clonskeagh. Donnybrook is also a civil parish mainly situated in the old barony of Dublin. History Donnybrook Fair dates from a charter of King John of England in 1204 and was held annually until 1855. It began as a fair for livestock and agricultural produce but later declined, growing into more of a carnival and funfair. Drunkenness, fighting, and hasty marriages became commonplace and the people of Donnybrook were anxious that it should cease. Eventually, the fair's reputation for tumult was its undoing. (RTÉ) (; Irish for "Radio & Television of Ireland") is the national broadcaster of Ireland headquartered in Dublin. It both produces and broadcasts programmes on television, radio and online. The radio service began on 1 January 1926, while regular television broadcasts began on 31 December 1961, making it one of the oldest continuously operating public service broadcasters in the world. RTÉ also publishes a weekly listings and lifestyle magazine, the ''RTÉ Guide''.
