This Desert (EP)
''This Desert'' is the debut extended play (EP) by American electronic music duo The Hundred in the Hands. It was released on May 17, 2010 by Warp. In an interview with Spinner, band member Jason Friedman said, "As we finished the EP and album, we saw that we had two different sounds. The EP is more washed-out with reverb and delays, and the album is crisper and more immediate, like 'Dresden.'" Two songs from the EP, "Tom Tom" and "Sleepwalkers", were included as bonus tracks on the iTunes edition of the duo's eponymous debut album. The Hundred In The Hands
The Hundred in the Hands (sometimes abbreviated as THITH) is an American electronic music duo from Brooklyn, New York City, formed in 2008. The band consists of Eleanore Everdell (vocals, keyboards) and Jason Friedman (guitar, programming). The band blends synthpop with post-punk and dream pop elements. History In 2007, singer Holly Miranda introduced Everdell to Friedman. Everdell joined The Boggs as a touring member. The two decided to form a band after they discovered that they shared similar music taste for early hip hop, French house, disco, ska, dub, post-punk and other genres. The band was named after the phrase the Lakota Nation gave to the 1866 Fetterman Fight in Wyoming, in which Crazy Horse led his warriors to a victory that resulted in the death of 100 enemies. Rainer Maria is an American emo band from Madison, Wisconsin, later residing in Brooklyn, New York. The band was originally active from 1995 to 2006 and reunited in 2014. History Caithlin De Marrais, Kaia Fischer and William Kuehn formed the band in late summer of 1995 and named it after the German-language poet Rainer Maria Rilke. Spinner was an online music and entertainment service. An AOL Music property, it was acquired by AOL on June 1, 1999, along with Nullsoft for $400 million. Based in San Francisco, California, the website was the first Internet music service and was the largest by 2001, while offering promotional features from high-profile recording artists. In 2002, AOL combined Spinner with the former's Netscape portal to form Netscape Radio. Spinner broadcast over 100 radio stations, including Radio CMJ.
