Third Weil Cabinet
The third Weil cabinet is the current state government of Lower Saxony, sworn in on 8 November 2022 after Stephan Weil was elected as Minister President of Lower Saxony, Minister-President of Lower Saxony by the members of the Landtag of Lower Saxony. It is the 30th Cabinet of Lower Saxony. It was formed after the 2022 Lower Saxony state election by the Social Democratic Party of Germany, Social Democratic Party (SPD) and Alliance 90/The Greens (GRÜNE). Excluding the Minister-President, the cabinet comprises ten ministers. Six are members of the SPD and four are members of the Greens. Formation The previous cabinet was a coalition government of the SPD and Christian Democratic Union of Germany, Christian Democratic Union (CDU) led by Minister-President Stephan Weil of the SPD. Stephan Weil
Stephan Weil (born 15 December 1958) is a German politician and the leader of the Social Democratic Party in Lower Saxony. On 20 January 2013, the SPD and the Green party won the 2013 Lower Saxony state election by one seat. On 19 February 2013, he was elected Minister President of Lower Saxony with the votes of SPD and Alliance '90/The Greens. From 1 November 2013 until 31 October 2014 he was President of the Bundesrat and ''ex officio'' deputy to the President of Germany. In November 2017, he was again elected Minister President with the votes of SPD and CDU. Early life and education Weil has lived in Hanover since 1965, where he completed the abitur at the Kaiser-Wilhelm-Gymnasium. After his mandatory community service in 1978 he began a law degree in Göttingen, which he finished with his first state examination in 1983. Andreas Philippi
Andreas Milan Gerhard Philippi (born 4 July 1965) is a German surgeon and politician of the Social Democratic Party (SPD) who has been serving as State Minister of Social Affairs, Labour, Health and Equality in the government of Lower Saxony since 2023. He previously was a member of the Bundestag from the state of Lower Saxony from 2021 to 2022. Falko Mohrs (born 23 July 1984) is a German politician of the Social Democratic Party (SPD) who has been serving as State Minister for Science and Culture in the government of Lower Saxony since 2022. He previously was a member of the Bundestag from the state of Lower Saxony from 2017 to 2022.
