''Thin Mind'' is the fifth studio album by Canadian indie rock band Wolf Parade. It was released on January 24, 2020 through Sub Pop. Background ''Thin Mind'' is Wolf Parade's fifth studio album and their first to be released since the departure of longtime guitarist and bassist Dante DeCaro. Keyboardist Spencer Krug said that the album title refers to "... the way that being around too much tech has made our focus thin." On the album, Wolf Parade address the difficulty of managing the constant barrage of content from news and social media. Reception Thin Mind received generally positive reviews from music critics, the album received an average score of 70 on Metacritic based on 13 reviews. In the AllMusic review, critic Mark Deming stated that "Thin Mind is Wolf Parade in their classic form, but with a force and a sense of purpose that makes them sound fresh and vital. Wolf Parade
Wolf Parade is a Canadian indie rock band formed in 2003 in Montreal. The band released three full-length albums before taking a five-year hiatus in 2011. They announced their return in 2016, releasing a self-titled EP in May of that year, and a fourth studio album, ''Cry Cry Cry'', in October 2017. Their fifth studio album, ''Thin Mind'', was released on January 24, 2020. History Wolf Parade began in April 2003, when former Frog Eyes member Spencer Krug was offered a gig by Grenadine Records' Alex Megelas. With only a three-week deadline to form a band, Krug contacted a fellow Canadian guitarist Dan Boeckner (formerly of British Columbia band Atlas Strategic) and began writing songs in Krug's apartment. Initially using a drum machine for their rhythm section played through computer speakers, Krug later invited Arlen Thompson to the lineup as the drummer; however, the newly formed trio rehearsed as a full band only the day before their first show. Dante DeCaro
Dante DeCaro (born January 26, 1981) of Shawnigan Lake, British Columbia, is the former guitarist/songwriter of the Canadian band Hot Hot Heat. DeCaro left the band after the recording of 2005's ''Elevator (Hot Hot Heat album), Elevator''. In the spring of 2005, he began playing solo acoustic shows with drummer Arlen Thompson of the Montreal band Wolf Parade. Dan Boeckner
Dan Boeckner (; born 5 February 1978) is a Canadian singer, songwriter, guitarist and podcaster. He is best known as one of the frontmen of Wolf Parade, which he helped found in 2003. Since 2013, he has also been a member of the Montreal-based band Operators. Boeckner began his career in the Victoria, Canada music scene, playing in multiple bands including Atlas Strategic. Since that time, he has been part of projects including Handsome Furs and Divine Fits with Spoon frontman Britt Daniel. In 2022, Boeckner joined Arcade Fire in a session capacity, touring and performing with the band in support of their sixth studio album, '' WE''. Making his live debut at the Toulouse Theatre in New Orleans, Boeckner subsequently appeared in the video to the band's first single, "The Lightning I, II".
