''Thieves Fall Out'' is a 1941 American comedy film directed by Ray Enright, written by Charles Grayson and Ben Markson, and starring Eddie Albert, Joan Leslie, Jane Darwell, Alan Hale, Sr., William T. Orr and John Litel. It was released by Warner Bros. on May 3, 1941. Plot The movie follows the life of Eddie Barnes, who is employed by his father, Rodney, the owner of Barnes Slumber Accessories Company. Eddie is deeply in love with Mary Matthews, the daughter of Charles Matthews, Rodney's competitor, but lacks the financial means to marry her. Fearing that Mary will leave him for someone else, Eddie implores his father for a pay raise, but his request is denied. In a bid to secure his future with Mary, Eddie decides to use his mother's inheritance to purchase a business. However, Eddie's plan is thwarted when the broker assigned to collect the policy's full amount is unable to do so due to Eddie's mother being alive. Ray Enright
Ray Enright (March 25, 1896 – April 3, 1965) was an American film director. He directed 73 films between 1927–53, many of them for Warner Bros. He oversaw comedy films like Joe E. Brown vehicles, five of the six informal pairings of Joan Blondell and Glenda Farrell, and later directed a number of Westerns, many featuring Randolph Scott. Enright was born in Anderson, Indiana, and died in Hollywood, California, from a heart attack. Etta McDaniel (December 1, 1890January 13, 1946) was an American actress who appeared in over 60 films between 1933 and 1946. She was the sister of actor Sam McDaniel and actress and Academy Award winner Hattie McDaniel. Early life McDaniel was born in Wichita, Kansas. She began her entertainment career as a member of minstrel shows with several others of her family. Etta married John Alfred Goff, 2 Dec 1908, in Denver, Colorado. Her son was Edgar Henry Goff. Edward Gargan
Edward Gargan (July 17, 1902 – February 19, 1964) was an American film and television actor. Career He was born of Irish parents in Brooklyn, New York. He was the elder brother of actor William Gargan. As soon as he had left college, he went onto the stage and had extensive acting experience gained in plays like ''My Maryland'', ''Rose Marie'', and ''Good News'' before going into films. His Broadway credits include ''Face the Music'' (1931), ''Polly of Hollywood'' (1926) and ''Black Boy'' (1926). In 1930, Gargan played Patrolman Mulligan in a production of ''Strictly Dishonorable''.
