Thierry St-Cyr
Thierry St-Cyr (born November 7, 1977) is an engineer and former Bloc Québécois politician in Quebec, Canada. He served as the Member of Parliament for Jeanne-Le Ber from 2006 to 2011. Education and career background Born in La Plaine, Quebec, he has a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering at the Université de Sherbrooke and Université de technologie de Compiègne in France as well as an International Bachelor's in science and nature in Geneva. In 1998 and 1999, worked as a management consultant with CGI in Quebec. He has also been a president and shareholder of an information technology company until 2000, when he started working for TETRA Technologies, Inc., an international oil and gas services company. Jeanne-Le Ber
Jeanne-Le Ber was a federal electoral district in Quebec, Canada, that was represented in the House of Commons of Canada from 2004 to 2015. Its population in 2006 was 112,863. It was abolished for the 2015 election and dissolved into Ville-Marie—Le Sud-Ouest—Île-des-Sœurs and LaSalle—Émard—Verdun. Geography The district included the Borough of Verdun, along with the neighbourhoods of Saint-Henri, Little Burgundy, and Pointe-Saint-Charles and the eastern part of Côte-Saint-Paul, in the Southwest borough. It was named for Jeanne Le Ber, a religious recluse and craftswoman who lived in Pointe-Saint-Charles in the 18th century. The 2004 Canadian federal election was held on June 28, 2004, to elect members to the House of Commons of Canada of the 38th Parliament of Canada. The Liberal government of Prime Minister Paul Martin lost its majority but was able to continue in office as a minority government after the election. Claude William Genest is a former Canadian journalist, actor, and TV host. He ran as the Green Party of Canada candidate in the riding of Westmount-Ville-Marie during the 2008 federal election. Biography A native of Montreal, Quebec, Genest is the son of Canadian actor Émile Genest. He was nominated for the 2006 federal election on January 16, 2006, and ran as a Green Party of Canada candidate in the riding of Jeanne-Le Ber. Genest was one of two deputy leaders of the Green Party of Canada. He was appointed to that position in November 2006, and was succeeded by Jacques Rivard. Henri-François Gautrin (born July 30, 1943 in Béthune, France) is a Quebec politician, professor and physicist. He was the Member of National Assembly of Quebec for the riding of Verdun in the Montreal region. He represented the Quebec Liberal Party and was the former Minister of Governmental Services from February 2006 to February 2007. Gautrin went to Collège Stanislas before going to the Université de Montréal where he obtained a bachelor's degree in sciences. 2012 Quebec General Election
The 2012 Quebec general election took place in the Canadian province of Quebec on September 4, 2012. Lieutenant Governor Pierre Duchesne dissolved the National Assembly on August 1, 2012, following Premier Jean Charest's request. The Parti Québécois were elected to a minority government, with Pauline Marois becoming the first woman to be Premier of Quebec. The Quebec Liberal Party took second place, with Premier Jean Charest losing his seat. The newly formed party Coalition Avenir Québec led by François Legault took third place, while Québec solidaire took 2 seats out of the 125. It was the first time since 2007 (and only the third time in Quebec history) that a minority government would be formed, as no party won an absolute majority of the seats.
