''Thickskin'' is the fourth studio album by American heavy metal band Skid Row, released on August 5, 2003. The come back album is the first to feature new vocalist Johnny Solinger who replaced original singer Sebastian Bach and the only album to feature former Saigon Kick drummer Phil Varone. The album featured a change to a more modern sound. Release and promotion The album charted at number 46 on the Top Independent albums chart. "Ghost" was released as a single with a music video filmed in Miami, Florida. Music videos were also made for the second single "New Generation", "Thick is the Skin" (promo single) and "One Light", all of which were featured on the DVD ''Under the Skin (The Making of Thickskin)''. "I Remember You Two" is a remake of the single " I Remember You" in a punk rock-influenced fashion. Skid Row is an American rock band formed in 1986 in Toms River, New Jersey. Their current lineup comprises bassist Rachel Bolan, guitarists Dave Sabo and Scotti Hill, drummer Rob Hammersmith and vocalist Erik Grönwall. The group achieved commercial success in the late 1980s and early 1990s, with its first two albums ''Skid Row'' (1989) and ''Slave to the Grind'' (1991) certified multi-platinum, the latter of which reached number one on the ''Billboard'' 200. Johnny Solinger
John Preston Solinger (August 7, 1965 – June 26, 2021) was an American singer known for being the lead vocalist of the hard rock/heavy metal band Skid Row from 1999 to 2015. Career Solinger Johnny Solinger moved to the Dallas–Fort Worth area as a young boy, where he was exposed to hard rock and country music, and fell in love with them. In 1990, he formed the rock band Solinger in Dallas, recording four independent records: ''Solinger'', ''Solinger II'', ''Chain Link Fence'', and ''Solinger Live''. He enjoyed live performance and radio success throughout the Southwest. Phil Varone
Phil Varone (born October 15, 1967) is an American drummer. He is a founding and former member of the band Saigon Kick from 1988–1996 and from 2012–2015. While out of Saigon Kick for several years, some of which Saigon Kick wasn't active, he played for Prunella Scales, Skid Row, and Vince Neil. Career Music Varone began playing in various local bands while still in high school in Fort Lauderdale. In 1988, he joined together with some of his friends and formed Saigon Kick. The band signed a recording contract with Atlantic Records after two years. They earned a Gold Record for the album, ''The Lizard'' as well as a Billboard top 10 single for the song, "Love is On the Way". ''Revolutions per Minute'' is the fifth studio album by American heavy metal band Skid Row, released on October 24, 2006. It is the band's only release with drummer Dave Gara and their last full album with vocalist Johnny Solinger. Release and promotion Michael Wagener temporarily reunited with Skid Row and produced the album. It had been 15 years since he co-produced the band's second album ''Slave to the Grind'' in 1991. The album received negative reviews and only charted in Japan at number 266. "Shut Up Baby, I Love You" and "Nothing" were released as promo singles and "Strength" is a cover song originally performed by The Alarm. Damon Johnson
Damon Rogers Johnson (born July 13, 1964) is an American guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter, currently a solo artist and member of Thin Lizzy. In the 1990s he co-founded Brother Cane, and later joined Alice Cooper's band as lead guitarist. He was also the lead guitarist and co-songwriter for hard rock group Black Star Riders from 2012 to 2018. Johnson has also released several solo albums and his songs have been recorded by many artists including Stevie Nicks and Carlos Santana. I Remember You (Skid Row Song)
"I Remember You" is a song by American heavy metal band Skid Row. It was released in November 1989 as the third single from their eponymous debut album. Composed as a power ballad, it was written by bandmates Rachel Bolan and Dave "the Snake" Sabo. It reached number six on the US ''Billboard'' Hot 100 and number 23 on the Mainstream Rock Tracks in early 1990. Creed was an American rock band from Tallahassee, Florida, formed in 1994. For most of its existence, the band consisted of lead vocalist Scott Stapp, guitarist and vocalist Mark Tremonti, bassist Brian Marshall, and drummer Scott Phillips. The album displayed a harsher sound than its predecessor and lyrics that avoided hard rock cliches. David Michael Sabo (born September 16, 1964), nicknamed "The Snake", is an American musician best known as one of the guitarists of heavy metal band Skid Row. Biography Pre-Skid Row Sabo was born in Perth Amboy, New Jersey and grew up in nearby Sayreville, in the same neighborhood as childhood friend Jon Bon Jovi. His mother, Dorothy, raised him and his brothers as a single mother. Inspired by the likes of Kiss, Aerosmith, Judas Priest, Van Halen, Black Sabbath, as well as the Rolling Stones, Sabo began playing guitar at the age of 14 on a $40 Sears guitar his mother had purchased for his older brother years earlier. Rachel Bolan (born February 9, 1964), born James Richard Southworth, is an American musician, best known as the bassist and main songwriter of the Heavy metal music, metal band Skid Row (American band), Skid Row. Career Bolan was born in 1964 to Aida and Hubert Southworth. He grew up in Toms River, New Jersey. He's the youngest of four children, and he is half Portuguese. When he was in junior high school he began considering a career in music after drummer Damian Cordisco asked him to play bass in his band. Bolan's first gig was in 1978 at Manasquan High School.
