Thiago Rangel Cionek (, ; born 21 April 1986) is a professional Association football, footballer who plays as a Defender (association football)#Centre-back, centre-back for Serie B club Reggina 1914, Reggina. Born in Brazil, he represented the Poland national football team, Poland national team. Club career Born in Curitiba, Paraná (state), Paraná, Cionek began his career with local Cuiabá Esporte Clube. He moved to Europe for a brief spell at Portugal's GD Bragança before returning to Brazil with Clube de Regatas Brasil. In 2008, Cionek went back to Europe, playing four seasons with Jagiellonia Białystok in his ancestral Poland. The team won the 2009–10 Polish Cup and the 2010 Polish SuperCup. Ekstraklasa Cup
The Ekstraklasa Cup ( pl, Puchar Ekstraklasy) was an elimination tournament for Polish football clubs who play in the Polish 1st Division Ekstraklasa. The Ekstraklasa Cup was the fourth attempt at introducing a League Cup competition in Poland. The first such tournament was a one-off tournament held in 1952 which Wawel Kraków won. Two other tournaments have also been held, the League Cup (1977–1978) and the Polish League Cup (1999–2002), these two tournaments mainly being cancelled after lack of interest from fans. A League Cup competition was again tried with the Ekstraklasa Cup in 2006, however this tournament again saw little interest from fans and the cup competition was cancelled in 2009 after the broadcasting rights expired. Poland Ekstraklasa (), meaning "Extra Class" in Polish, named PKO Ekstraklasa since the 2019–20 season due to its sponsorship by PKO Bank Polski, is the top Polish professional league for men's association football teams. Contested by 18 clubs, operating a system of promotion and relegation with the I liga, seasons start in July, and end in May or June the following year. Teams play a total of 34 games each. 2008–09 Ekstraklasa
The 2008–09 Ekstraklasa was the seventy-fifth season of top-tier football in Poland. It began on 8 August 2008 and ended on 30 May 2009. The season was originally scheduled to start on 25 July 2008. However, the first two rounds of games were postponed because of legal uncertainties about the number of teams in the competition following an association-wide corruption scandal. Wisła Kraków won the league for the second time in a row and for the 12th time in their history after defeating Śląsk Wrocław 2–0 in the final match of the season. Legia Warsaw finished as runners-up and qualified for the second qualifying round of 2009–10 UEFA Europa League. Lech Poznań finished third and qualified for the third qualifying round of the Europa League after winning the Polish Cup. An own goal, also called a self goal, is where a player performs actions that result in them or their team scoring a goal on themselves, often resulting in a point for the opposing team, such as when a football player kicks a ball into their own net or goal, awarding the other team a point.
