They Nest
''They Nest'' (also known as ''Creepy Crawlers'') is a 2000 American science fiction horror film directed by Ellory Elkayem and starring Thomas Calabro, Dean Stockwell, John Savage, and Kristen Dalton. Plot Stressed by marital breakdown and alcohol problems, Dr. Ben Cahill freezes up under pressure in the emergency room. He is forced into taking a break by his superior and decides to unwind for a few months in the house he and his ex bought on Orr island, a fishing community off the coast of Maine. Here he starts examining, at the request of Sheriff Hobbs, some animal and human corpses with strange internal as well as external injuries. The doctor observes that one of the red cockroaches which recently infested the island has pincers, which is most unusual. He reads up and contacts the university entomology department, where this African species is considered obscure. He finds that his house is also infested with these cockroaches. Ellory Elkayem
Ellory Elkayem (born 12 August 1970) is a New Zealand film director. Born in Christchurch, Elkayem began making films at a young age. He later attended a film school designed to give students practical experience and preparation for a career in the film business. He learned the ropes firsthand while working in the camera department on many commercials, music videos, and television shows such as ''The Adventures of the Black Stallion'' starring Mickey Rooney. During this time, Elkayem also made several short subject, short films with support and financial assistance from the New Zealand government. His big break came with ''Larger than Life'', a 13-minute black-and-white, special effect, FX-driven homage to the 1950s Hollywood horror genre, featuring a giant, man-eating spider.
