They Knew Mr. Knight (film)
''They Knew Mr. Knight'' is a 1946 British drama film directed by Norman Walker and starring Mervyn Johns, Nora Swinburne and Joyce Howard. It was based on a 1934 novel of the same title by Dorothy Whipple. A man is sentenced to twelve months in Lincoln jail following his involvement in a share scam, plunging himself and his family into despair. However, by the time of his release he is able to face his uncertain future with fortitude. The film was made by Norman Walker's G.H.W. Productions, funded by the Rank Organisation, at Denham Studios. It suffered a financial loss on its release and it was the last of four films that Walker made for Rank. Ian Fleming (actor)
Ian Fleming (born Ian Macfarlane; 10 September 1888 – 1 January 1969) was an Australian character actor with credits in over 100 British films. One of his best known roles was playing Dr Watson in a series of Sherlock Holmes films of the 1930s opposite Arthur Wontner's Holmes. Early life, family and education Aked was born in Bingley, West Riding of Yorkshire, England to George Henry Aked and his wife Emma (née Bairstow). Patric Curwen (14 December 1884 – 31 May 1949) was a British stage and film actor. Biography Curwen, son of John Spencer Curwen of the music publishing company, and grandson of John Curwen, founder of the Tonic sol-fa system, was educated at Abbotsholme School in Derbyshire, then New College, Oxford. He studied acting under Rosina Filippi and started his career at the Haymarket Theatre in London in 1907, appearing in productions of ''The Lyons Mail'', '' Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde'' and '' The Bells'', among others. During World War I he joined the Artists Rifles, then received a commission in the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve.
