Theophilus F. Metcalf
Theophilus Frank Metcalf (May 10, 1816 – February 13, 1891) was an American farmer and politician. Metcalf was born in Wicklow, Ireland and then emigrated to the United States. He settled in Winnebago County, Wisconsin in 1849 and then moved to the town of Marion in Waushara County, Wisconsin where he was a farmer. Metcalf served as chairman of the Marion Town Board. In 1870, Metcalf served in the Wisconsin Assembly and was elected as an Independent against Charles H. Stowers, the Republican nominee. Metcalf would sit in the Wisconsin Assembly as a Republican. Metcalf died suddenly in Berlin, Wisconsin Berlin is a city in Green Lake and Waushara counties in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. The population was 5,571 at the 2020 census. Wicklow
Wicklow ( ; ga, Cill Mhantáin , meaning 'church of the toothless one'; non, Víkingaló) is the county town of County Wicklow in Ireland. It is located south of Dublin on the east coast of the island. According to the 2016 census, it has a population of 10,584. The town is to the east of the M11 route between Dublin and Wexford. It also has railway links to Dublin, Wexford, Arklow, and Rosslare Europort. There is also a commercial port for timber and textile imports. Berlin is a city in Green Lake and Waushara counties in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. The population was 5,571 at the 2020 census. Of this, 5,435 were in Green Lake County, and only 89 were in Waushara County. Strong (1813–1852) became the first resident of what is today Berlin. He was joined by Hugh G. Martin, Hiram Barnes, and William Dickey. Their settlement was known as Strong's Landing. In 1848 a post office was established. It was named Berlin after the capital of Prussia, now the capital of Germany. The first school house was built in 1850 and the first church in 1851.
