Theodor Koch
Theodor Koch (13 May 1905 – 21 October 1976) was a German engineer and weapons manufacturer, born in Zuffenhausen, Germany. As a young man, Koch apprenticed as a precision mechanic. After completing his apprenticeship he attended an engineering school in Esslingen. In 1924 he started work for Mauser in Oberndorf as an engineer and stayed with them until 1931. After the fall of Germany to the Allied Forces at the end of World War II the Mauser factory was dismantled. Koch, Edmund Heckler and Alex Seidel saved what they could and used it to found Heckler & Koch Heckler & Koch GmbH (HK; ) is a German defense manufacturing company that manufactures handguns, rifles, submachine guns, and grenade launchers. Zuffenhausen
Zuffenhausen is one of three northernmost boroughs of the city of Stuttgart, capital of the German state of Baden-Württemberg. The borough is primarily an incorporation of the formerly independent townships Zuffenhausen, Zazenhausen, Neuwirtshaus, and Rot, the latter is a historic town that gained importance in 1945 as a refugee camp for German refugees. Mauser
Mauser, originally Königlich Württembergische Gewehrfabrik ("Royal Württemberg Rifle Factory"), was a German arms manufacturer. Their line of bolt-action rifles and semi-automatic pistols has been produced since the 1870s for the German armed forces. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Mauser designs were also exported and licensed to many countries which adopted them as military and civilian sporting firearms. Oberndorf am Neckar (; Swabian: ''Oberndorf am Näggô'') is a town in the district of Rottweil, in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It is situated on the river Neckar, north of Rottweil. Edmund Heckler
Edmund Heckler (2 February 1906 – 2 July 1960) was a German engineer & weapons manufacturer, born in Tuttlingen, Germany. After completing his apprenticeship at the Mauser company in the city of Oberndorf, he attended the Württemberg State Higher Mechanical Engineering School in Esslingen from 1925. was employed by Hugo Schneider AG (HASAG), a metal processing and armaments company with approximately 50,000 employees. Heckler, who initially worked as a senior engineer, soon became one of the company's authorized officers and was given the task of setting up branch plants in Leipzig, Berlin, Taucha and Altenburg. He later worked in the three latter plants during WWII.
