Theo Hill
Theo Hill (born May 22, 1982) is an American jazz pianist. He has recorded four albums as a leader. Biography Theo Hill was born and raised in Albany, New York, United States. He began playing piano at age five, and graduated from the Jazz Conservatory of the State University of New York at Purchase in 2004 with a Bachelor of Arts, ''cum laude''. Hill’s first CD, ''Theo Hill Quartet: Live at Smalls'' (SmallsLive), was released in January 2015 and features Dayna Stephens on saxophone, Mark Whitfield, Jr. on drums, Joe Sanders on bass, and Rodney Green on drums. In ''The New York Times'', Nate Chinen described ''Live at Smalls'' as a fine album and characterized Hill as "a painterly young pianist with a chamber-like approach to composition". His sophomore effort ''Promethean'' (Posi-Tone Records) was released in May 2017 featuring sidemen Yashushi Nakamura on bass and Mark Whitfield, Jr. on drums. Bill Saxton
William Edward Saxton (born June 28, 1946, in New York City) is an American hard bop tenor saxophonist. He studied clarinet, composition and arrangement at the New England Conservatory in Boston, graduating in 1973 and worked with Pharoah Sanders, Jackie McLean and Bennie Maupin. He began working with Dannie Richmond in 1979, and he later worked with Charlie Persip's big band and Errol Parker. He has worked with Frank Foster, Clark Terry, Carmen McRae, Nancy Wilson, Tito Puente, Mongo Santamaria, Roy Ayers, Bobby Watson and Roy Haynes. He was a Friday-night regular at Nick's jazz pub in Harlem, before he fulfilled a dream of his and opened "New York's only Jazz Speakeasy", "Bill's Place", on West 133rd Street in Harlem in 2006. Jazz is a music genre that originated in the African-American communities of New Orleans, Louisiana in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, with its roots in blues and ragtime. Dayna Stephens
Dayna Stephens (born August 1, 1978) is an American jazz saxophonist and composer. In addition to leading his own group, Stephens has performed extensively with Kenny Barron, Ambrose Akinmusire, Taylor Eigsti, Julian Lage, Eric Harland, and Gerald Clayton. Stephens grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and attended Berkeley High School. He went on to study at the Berklee School of Music and later at the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz.
