"Then You Turn Away" is a song by English electronic band Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark (OMD), released as the third single released from their eighth studio album, '' Sugar Tax'' (1991), on 2 September 1991. It peaked at number 50 on the UK Singles Chart the same month and also reached number 56 in Germany. B-sides Originally the music written by Andy McCluskey for the 1991 BBC G. F. Newman TV series ''For the Greater Good'' was to be included as the B-side for "Then You Turn Away", but it became ''Sugar Tax''. This song in turn was scheduled as the title track of the album, but was not finished at the time the album was released. The CD singles contain the extra tracks "Area", "Vox Humana", and a remix of "Then You Turn Away", called Infinite Repeat Mix. Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark
Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark (OMD) are an English electronic music, electronic band formed in Wirral Peninsula, Wirral, Merseyside, in 1978. The group consists of co-founders Andy McCluskey (vocals, bass guitar) and Paul Humphreys (keyboards, vocals), along with Martin Cooper (musician), Martin Cooper (keyboards, saxophone) and Stuart Kershaw (drums); McCluskey has been the only constant member. Regarded as pioneers of electronic music, OMD combined an Experimental music, experimental, Minimal music, minimalist ethos with pop sensibilities, becoming key figures in the late-1970s/early-1980s emergence of synth-pop. The band were also one of the original acts involved in the MTV-driven Second British Invasion of the US. ''Sugar Tax'' is the eighth studio album by English electronic band Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark (OMD), released on 7 May 1991 by Virgin Records. It was the group's first studio album since 1986's ''The Pacific Age'', and the first of three recorded without co-founder Paul Humphreys, who had departed in 1989. Featuring singer Andy McCluskey alongside a new backing band, ''Sugar Tax'' leans towards the then-prevalent dance-pop genre, with McCluskey's songwriting at times being influenced by the breakdown of his relationship with Humphreys. ''Sugar Tax'' met with mixed reviews but became one of OMD's biggest commercial successes, selling three million copies by 2007. George Andrew McCluskey (born 24 June 1959) is an English singer, songwriter, musician and record producer. He is best known as the lead singer and bass guitarist of the electronic band Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark (OMD), which he founded alongside keyboard player Paul Humphreys in 1978. The duo have been described as "electro pioneers". McCluskey also founded pop girl group Atomic Kitten, for whom he served as a principal songwriter, and has collaborated with various acts. "Pandora's Box" (subtitled "It's a Long, Long Way" for the US release) is a song by English electronic band Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark (OMD), released as the second single from their eighth studio album, '' Sugar Tax'', on 24 June 1991. The song, which deals with the less glamorous side of celebrity, was inspired by silent film actress Louise Brooks and is named after the 1929 film '' Pandora's Box'' in which she starred. The single was a top-10 hit in the United Kingdom and throughout Europe. Three remixes were made for this release, remixed by Danny Griffiths, Carl Segal, and Steve Anderson respectively.
