Konrad Theiss Verlag
The Wissenschaftliche Buchgesellschaft (WBG) is a German publishing house in Darmstadt. With about 140,000 subscribers (as of 1999) it is one of the largest book clubs in Germany. German scientists founded the WBG in 1949 as a voluntary association to help with the shortage of scientific literature after World War II. Its aim was to publish new books and to reprint standard works, scarce in that era. The company's principal founder and first managing director was Ernst Anrich. One of its founding members was the philosopher . Nowadays the WBG publishes works from about 20 fields of study, sent by mail order to its members. Since 2007, she is the world champion in professional full contact kickboxing in the World Kickboxing Association (WKA). Ferdinand Theissen
Ferdinand Theissen (27 July 1877 in Krefeld – 5 September 1919) was a German-Austrian Jesuit priest and mycologist. He studied theology at the seminary in Feldkirch, then from 1902 to 1908 was stationed in São Leopoldo, Brazil. Following his return to Europe he continued his studies in Valkenburg and Innsbruck, and in 1914 returned to Feldkirch as a schoolteacher. He died in September 1919 as a result of a climbing accident during a collection excursion in the Vorarlberg Alps. He was the author or co-author of numerous mycological taxa; with Hans Sydow he co-described the families Botryosphaeriaceae, Dothioraceae, Phyllachoraceae and Polystomellaceae. Lake Tisza ( hu, Tisza-tó), also known as Kisköre Reservoir (Hungarian: ''Kiskörei-víztározó''), is the largest artificial lake in Hungary. It is located at the southeastern edge of Heves county, next to counties Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén, Hajdú-Bihar and Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok. As part of the ongoing Tisza River flood control project, the Tisza Dam was built in 1973. Its filling was finished in the 1990s, resulting a 127 km2 lake. The lake is 27 km in length, with an average depth of 1.3 m and a maximum depth of 17 m; it contains 43 km2 of small islands. Following the reservoir's completion, Hungarians began to flock to the site for holidays, since it compared favorably with the crowded and expensive Lake Balaton, the traditional holiday site. The Tisza, Tysa or Tisa, is one of the major rivers of Central and Eastern Europe. Once, it was called "the most Hungarian river" because it flowed entirely within the Kingdom of Hungary. Today, it crosses several national borders.
