''Theatre of Magic'' is a pinball machine designed by John Popadiuk, produced by Midway Games, Midway (under the ''Bally Manufacturing, Bally'' brand name). Description The game presents four primary objectives, each of which must be completed in order to qualify for the "Grand Finale" wizard mode. * Theatre: Spell THEATRE by shooting the left loop (one letter per shot). Doing so begins a hurry-up countdown, during which a shot into the trunk scores a bonus. * Multiball: Shoot the ramps to spell MAGIC (one letter per shot), then lock two balls by shooting the inner loop and hit the Magic Trunk to begin Theatre Multiball. * Midnight Madness: Repeated shots to the right loop advance the clock one hour at a time, starting from noon. The Williams Pinball Controller (WPC) is an arcade system board platform used for several pinball games designed by Williams and Midway (under the ''Bally'' name) between 1990 and early 1999. It is the successor to their earlier System 11 hardware ('' High Speed'', ''Pin*Bot'', ''Black Knight 2000''). John Popadiuk
John A. Popadiuk Jr. is a Canadian pinball machine designer. He started work in the business at 19 for Bally in 1980, and later at WMS Gaming from 1989 to 2000. He now works for deeproot Tech as Exclusive Game Designer. He is credited as principal designer for many popular pinball machines in the 1990s including ''Theatre of Magic'', '' Tales of the Arabian Nights'', ''World Cup Soccer'', '' Star Wars Episode I'', and ''Cirqus Voltaire''. Background Early on, Popadiuk read Roger Sharpe's pinball book, and saw the name Norm Clarke, who was currently working at Bally at the time. Popadiuk wrote Clarke a letter, to which Clarke responded, "If you're ever in Chicago, drop me a line and we'll give you a tour." Two weeks later, Popadiuk flew to Chicago and got a tour of the new Bally factory in Bensenville. ''The Pinball Arcade'' is a pinball video game developed by FarSight Studios.
