The World Of The Brotherhood Of Man
''The World of the Brotherhood of Man'' is the third album released by British pop group Brotherhood of Man. Featuring a mix of new and previously-released material, the album contained the group's two biggest hits "United We Stand" and "Where Are You Going To My Love". This was the final release of the early incarnation of the group. Background The album was released on Decca Records (the owner of Deram Records - the group's regular label) in June 1973. The album was a compilation which was released after the original version of the group had disbanded. The album featured six singles by the group, including their most recent, "Say a Prayer", which had been released some months earlier. Also included on the album were four previously unreleased songs as well as some non-album A-sides and B-sides. A re-release of earlier single, "United We Stand" was pulled from this album in late 1973. One of the singles included on the album "California Sunday Morning" received a favourable ...

Brotherhood Of Man
Brotherhood of Man are a British pop group who achieved success in the 1970s. They won the 1976 Eurovision Song Contest with "Save Your Kisses for Me". Created in 1969 by songwriter and record producer Tony Hiller, Brotherhood of Man was initially an umbrella title for a frequently-changing line-up of session singers. Early on, they scored a worldwide hit with the song "United We Stand". By 1973 the concept had run its course and Hiller formed a definite four-member line-up consisting of Martin Lee, Lee Sheriden, Nicky Stevens and Sandra Stevens. This version of the group went on to score many hits around the world in the mid to late 1970s including "Kiss Me Kiss Your Baby", " Angelo", "Oh Boy (The Mood I'm In)" and " Figaro". They achieved perhaps their biggest success in their native UK with three number one singles and four top twenty albums. The group under this line-up still continues, performing shows throughout Europe. Altogether, they have released 16 studio albums, with ...

Deram Records
Deram Records was a subsidiary record label of Decca Records established in the United Kingdom in 1966. At the time, U.K. Decca was a different company from the Decca label in the United States, which was owned by MCA Inc. Deram recordings were distributed in the U.S. through UK Decca's American branch known as London Records. Deram was active until 1979, then continued as a reissue label. 1966–1968 In the 1960s Decca recording engineers experimented with ways of improving stereo recordings. They created a technique they named "Decca Panoramic Sound." The term "Deramic" was created as abbreviation of this. The new concept "allowed for more space between instruments, rendering these sounds softer to the ear." Early stereo recordings of popular music usually were mixed with sounds to the hard left, centre, or hard right only. This was because of the technical limitations of the professional 4-track reel-to-reel recorders which were considered state of the art until 1967. ...

Brotherhood Of Man Albums
This is a discography of the singles and albums of British pop group Brotherhood of Man. All singles and albums from 1974 are from a completely different line-up to the earlier releases. The earlier releases (on the Deram label) were credited to ''The'' Brotherhood of Man. The group's first appearance on the chart was on 14 February 1970 in the UK with the single " United We Stand". This went on to become a hit in many other countries, including the US. The first chart appearance of the later line-up is with the 1974 single "Lady" in Belgium and Holland. The first appearance by this line-up in the UK is with the single "Save Your Kisses For Me" on 13 March 1976. The song's entry at No.14 was the second highest Top 50 chart entry of that year (second to Queen's " Somebody to Love", which rose from 51 to 4 in a single week), due to its selection as the UK entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 1976. Miss UK
Miss United Kingdom is a title held by the highest-ranked contestant from the UK in the Miss World pageant. The winner sometimes competes at Miss International the following year under the ''Britain'' or ''United Kingdom'' banner. From 1958 to 1999, Miss United Kingdom was a national beauty pageant held to choose a representative for the Miss World Pageant. In 1999, Scotland and Wales had their own contestants at Miss World, and in 2000, England and Northern Ireland sent their own representatives. The existing organization now runs the Miss England competition. History The pageant was created in 1958 by Eric Morley, the man behind the Miss World pageant. Before 1958, the winner of the Miss Great Britain contest would go on to represent the UK at the Miss World pageant, but from 1952 to 1957, none of the Miss GB title holders made the final seven at Miss World, so Morley decided to create the Miss United Kingdom contest in the hope of achieving better results at Miss World. Billboard Magazine
''Billboard'' (stylized as ''billboard'') is an American music and entertainment magazine published weekly by Penske Media Corporation. The magazine provides music charts, news, video, opinion, reviews, events, and style related to the music industry. Its music charts include the Hot 100, the 200, and the Global 200, tracking the most popular albums and songs in different genres of music. It also hosts events, owns a publishing firm, and operates several TV shows. ''Billboard'' was founded in 1894 by William Donaldson and James Hennegan as a trade publication for bill posters. Donaldson later acquired Hennegan's interest in 1900 for $500. In the early years of the 20th century, it covered the entertainment industry, such as circuses, fairs, and burlesque shows, and also created a mail service for travelling entertainers. ''Billboard'' began focusing more on the music industry as the jukebox, phonograph, and radio became commonplace. Many topics it covered were spun-off into ...

B-side
The A-side and B-side are the two sides of phonograph records and cassettes; these terms have often been printed on the labels of two-sided music recordings. The A-side usually features a recording that its artist, producer, or record company intends to be the initial focus of promotional efforts and radio airplay and hopefully become a hit record. The B-side (or "flip-side") is a secondary recording that typically receives less attention, although some B-sides have been as successful as, or more so than, their A-sides. Use of this language has largely declined in the 21st century as the music industry has transitioned away from analog recordings towards digital formats without physical sides, such as CDs, downloads and streaming. Nevertheless, some artists and labels continue to employ the terms ''A-side'' and ''B-side'' metaphorically to describe the type of content a particular release features, with ''B-side'' sometimes representing a "bonus" track or other material. The ...

United We Stand (song)
"United We Stand" is a song written by Tony Hiller and Peter Simons (writer's pseudonym for group member John Goodison (musician), Johnny Goodison). It was first released in 1970 by the Brotherhood of Man (in their original, pre-Eurovision line-up), becoming the band's first hit, peaking at #13 in the U.S., #9 in Canada, and #10 in the U.K. The song spent 15 weeks on the charts, and is ranked as the 64th biggest U.S. hit of 1970. It also reached #8 in Australia. Background Reg Dwight, who would later become famous as Elton John, was an office boy at Mills Music, a Denmark Street music publishing house where Hiller worked. Hiller knew he could sing and had him record the original demo for "United We Stand." ''Billboard (magazine), Billboard'' gave the song a favourable review on 14 March 1970 calling it a "strong production" and (correctly) predicting it would become a top 20 hit on the Billboard Hot 100. The song was later included on an album of United We Stand (Brotherhood of M ...

Pop Music
Pop music is a genre of popular music that originated in its modern form during the mid-1950s in the United States and the United Kingdom. The terms ''popular music'' and ''pop music'' are often used interchangeably, although the former describes all music that is popular and includes many disparate styles. During the 1950s and 1960s, pop music encompassed rock and roll and the youth-oriented styles it influenced. ''Rock'' and ''pop'' music remained roughly synonymous until the late 1960s, after which ''pop'' became associated with music that was more commercial, ephemeral, and accessible. Although much of the music that appears on record charts is considered to be pop music, the genre is distinguished from chart music. Identifying factors usually include repeated choruses and hooks, short to medium-length songs written in a basic format (often the verse-chorus structure), and rhythms or tempos that can be easily danced to. Much pop music also borrows elements from other styles ...

Good Things Happening
''Good Things Happening'' is the first album released by the new lineup of pop group Brotherhood of Man. This lineup consisted of Martin Lee, Lee Sheriden, Nicky Stevens and Sandra Stevens and was to be the main lineup of the group's history and would hold for the next ten albums. It contains their first europeen hit "Lady" which was a hit in Belgium and the Netherlands. Background This album was released in September 1974 on the Dawn label. It featured the singles "When Love Catches Up on You", "Lady", "Lady Lady Lady Lay" and "Spring of 1912". None of these found success in the UK, although the single "Lady" was a hit in the Netherlands and Belgium. During recording sessions for the album in August 1974, member Lee Sheriden came up with a song called "Save Your Kisses for Me". The others disliked the title and reworked it into "Oceans of Love". Dissatisfied with the changes, Sheriden shelved the song and it was ultimately left off the album. The song was later reused the foll ...

We're The Brotherhood Of Man
''We're the Brotherhood of Man'' is the second album by British pop group The Brotherhood of Man in their early incarnation on Deram Records. It was released in April 1972 and featured the US hit "Reach Out Your Hand". Overview The album was released in April 1972, nearly two years after their first album. The back cover of the album featured a write-up by DJ Terry Wogan which stated that " he Brotherhood of Manare one of the rare 'white' groups that make a valid 'black' sound". ''We're the Brotherhood of Man'' featured two single releases: "Reach Out Your Hand" and "You and I". None of the group's singles around this time had charted in the UK. This album similarly failed, and the group disbanded after being dropped by their record label. "Reach Out Your Hand" was a minor hit on the Hot 100 in the United States, peaking at number 77. It was a bigger hit regionally; in Buffalo, New York, for example, WYSL charted "Reach Out Your Hand" at no less than number 18.
