Charles Puffy
Charles Puffy (born Károly Hochstadt; 3 November 1884 – 1942 or 1943) was a Hungarian film actor. Biography Hochstadt appeared in more than 130 films between 1914 and 1938. He was the only slapstick star in Hungary's silent film era, appearing under the name "Pufi" (meaning "Fatty" in Hungarian, referring to his weight) and Carlie Puffy in the United States for Universal Studios. His other stage names were Károly Huszár or Pufi Huszár. Besides his work on films, he frequently appeared on stage, mostly in comical roles. Later, he worked in films in both Germany and the United States, including such classics as Fritz Lang's '' Dr. Mabuse, der Spieler'' (''Dr. Mabuse, the Gambler'') (1922) and Josef von Sternberg's '' Der blaue Engel'' (''The Blue Angel'') (1930). Wilhelm Diegelmann
Wilhelm Diegelmann (28 September 1861 – 1 March 1934) was a German actor. Career Diegelmann's first stage appearance was in 1878 in the chorus for the Frankfurt Opera. In 1881 he debuted at the Frankfurt City Theater, playing King Lear, William Tell, and other title characters. Sometime around 1900, Diegelmann relocated to Berlin. Here, he appeared at a variety of theaters, including the Deutsches Theater, the Großes Schauspielhaus, and the Deutsches Künstlertheater. Diegelmann was introduced to film in 1913 by Max Reinhardt. he became a prolific actor of supporting roles, often as a father figure. He performed in the well-known film '' Der Blaue Engel'' (The Blue Angel), where he played a ship captain who flirts with the lead actress (Marlene Dietrich). Ilka Grüning (born Ilka Henriette Grunzweig; 4 September 1876 – 11 November 1964) was an Austrian-Hungarian actress. Born in Vienna in the old Austrian-Hungarian Empire, she was one of many Jewish actors and actresses that were forced to flee Europe when the Nazis came to power in 1933. A respected and famous actress of her time in the German-language area, she was forced to play bit parts in Hollywood.
