The Witness (Queen Of Swords)
"The Witness" is the fifth episode of the syndicated television series ''Queen of Swords'', airing November 4, 2000. Tessa witnesses a shooting of a peasant girl. Anton the son of retired sea captain Mary Rose, now a rancher, is arrested. Mary Rose is determined that Tessa will not testify, but equally determined are the girl's brothers that she does. Vera holds the key. Tessa kills for the first time. ''Queen of Swords'' is a Canadian action–adventure television series set in California during the early 19th century that ran for one season from 2000 to 2001. The series premiered October 7, 2000. After filming had been completed on 22 episodes and the first eight episodes were broadcast, the series was cancelled. Plot In 1817, a young Spanish aristocrat, Tessa Alvarado, returns to Spanish California after the death of her father and finds her home in ruins, her father's manservant reduced to stealing. The town where she was born is run by a militaristic governor who abuses his power, resulting in the miscarriage of justice and the poor living conditions of his subjects. Roberta Brown is an American swordmaster and actress. She is known for her work on ''Queen of Swords'' where she worked as a sword coach and onscreen as a sword double for female characters played by Tessie Santiago, Bo Derek, and Paulina Galvez. She has choreographed numerous fights and sword fights for other television series, theatre, and motion pictures. Career Brown took up fencing at college and continued her studies as an actress and stage combatant at the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art (London), where she received a Master of Fine Arts equivalency.
