''The Winds of the Aures'' ( ar, ريح الاوراس, translit. Rih al awras, french: Le Vent des Aurès) is a 1967 Algerian war film directed by Mohammed Lakhdar-Hamina. It was entered into the 1967 Cannes Film Festival where it won the award for Best First Work. It was also entered into the 5th Moscow International Film Festival. Mohammed Lakhdar-Hamina
Mohammed Lakhdar-Hamina ( ar, محمد الأخضر حمينة; born in M'Sila, Algeria, M'sila in 1934) is an Algerian film director and screenwriter. He is best known for his 1975 film ''Chronicle of the Years of Fire''. He is one of the most prominent figures in contemporary Arab cinema, Arabic cinema. Biography Born in 1934 at M'Sila, Algeria, Lakhdar began his studies in his native country. He first became interested in the world of cinema at the Lycée Carnot in Cannes, France. After beginning studies of agriculture and law student, law at French universities, he deserted the French Army in 1958 and joined the anti-French Algerian Resistance in Tunisia, where he worked for the provisional Algerian government in exile. His film career began as he joined the Algerian Maquis (guerrillas). Omar Tayare
ʿUmar ibn al-Khaṭṭāb ( ar, عمر بن الخطاب, also spelled Omar, ) was the second Rashidun caliph, ruling from August 634 until his assassination in 644. He succeeded Abu Bakr () as the second caliph of the Rashidun Caliphate on 23 August 634. Umar was a senior companion and father-in-law of the Islamic prophet Muhammad. Aïcha Adjouri, ( ar, عائشة عجوري), often known as Keltoum (كلثوم), was an Algerian actress. She is regarded as one of the greatest Algerian actresses of all time. She was born on 2 April 1916 in Blida, and died on 11 November 2010. Career She was discovered by playwright Mahieddine Bachtarzi in 1935, and participated in about 20 films and more than 70 plays.
