The Wicked Lady
''The Wicked Lady'' is a 1945 British costume drama film directed by Leslie Arliss and starring Margaret Lockwood in the title role as a nobleman's wife who becomes a highwayman for the excitement. The film had one of the top audiences for a film of its period, 18.4 million. It was one of the Gainsborough melodramas, a sequence of very popular films made during the 1940s. In 2020, ''Filmink'' magazine said "if you only see one Gainsborough melodrama, this is the one to check out." The story was based on the 1945 novel ''Life and Death of the Wicked Lady Skelton'' by Magdalen King-Hall which, in turn, was based upon the (disputed) events surrounding the life of Lady Katherine Ferrers, the wife of the major landowner in Markyate on the main London–Birmingham road. The film was loosely remade by Michael Winner as ''The Wicked Lady'' in 1983. ''The Wicked Lady'' is a 1983 British-American drama film directed by Michael Winner and starring Faye Dunaway, Alan Bates, John Gielgud, Denholm Elliott, and Hugh Millais. It was screened out of competition at the 1983 Cannes Film Festival. It is a remake of the 1945 film of the same name, which was one of the popular series of Gainsborough melodramas. Plot Caroline is to be wed to Sir Ralph and invites her sister Barbara to be her bridesmaid. Barbara seduces Ralph, and marries him herself, but, despite her new wealthy situation, she gets bored and turns to highway robbery for thrills. While on the road she meets a famous highwayman, Jerry Jackson, and they continue as a team, but some people begin suspecting her identity and she risks death if she continues her nefarious activities. ''The Wicked Lady'' is the soundtrack to the 1983 remake of The Wicked Lady (1983 film), the film of the same title. It was composed by Genesis (band), Genesis keyboardist Tony Banks (musician), Tony Banks. The first side of the LP features Tony Banks (musician), Banks performing solo versions of themes from the soundtrack. The second side of the LP is the actual soundtrack performed by the National Philharmonic Orchestra. For many years this had been the only entire solo LP by a Genesis member never to have been released on CD. However, a CD version was released on April 15, 2013. Reception In their retrospective review, AllMusic favorably compared the Banks solo half of the album to the instrumentals from ''A Curious Feeling''. They praised the second half for being "more complex and dramatic", but admitted that it would be of little interest to most Genesis fans. Lady Katherine Ferrers
Katherine Ferrers (4 May 1634 – c. 13 June 1660) was an English gentlewoman and heiress. According to popular legend, she was also the "Wicked Lady", a highwaywoman who terrorised the English county of Hertfordshire before dying from gunshot wounds sustained during a robbery. History Katherine Ferrers was born on 4 May 1634 at Bayford in Hertfordshire to Knighton Ferrers and his wife, the former Katherine (or Catherine) Walters, and heiress to a considerable fortune. The Ferrers family were fervent Protestants and great favourites of both Henry VIII and Edward VI; the latter granted them extensive properties in Hertfordshire, including Bayford, Ponsbourne, Agnells, the family mansion at Flamstead, and the manor house of Markyate Cell at Markyate. Knighton Ferrers died in 1640, and Katherine's grandfather, Sir George Ferrers, died soon after. is a fictional main character from the '' Sailor Moon'' manga series created by Naoko Takeuchi. She is one of the main characters of the series. She is introduced in Chapter 14, "Conclusion and Commencement, Petite Étrangere", first published in ''Nakayoshi'' on July 6, 1993. She is a small child from the 30th century who time travels to the past to seek help from the Sailor Soldiers. She later returns, a few years older, in order to train as a Soldier herself—, translated as "Sailor Mini Moon" in the DIC and Cloverway English adaptations.
