The Whatnauts were an American soul group from Baltimore, Maryland Baltimore ( , locally: or ) is the most populous city in the U.S. state of Maryland, fourth most populous city in the Mid-Atlantic, and the 30th most populous city in the United States with a population of 585,708 in 2020. Baltimore was ..., founded in 1969. George Kerr produced them. The group had several hit singles in the early 1970s, including the socially conscious single "Message from a Black Man" in 1970 on A&I International, "Please Make the Love Go Away" also in 1970 but on Stang, and their biggest success "I'll Erase Away Your Pain" in 1971. They performed with fellow Stang artists The Moments for the hit single "Girls" in 1974. ''British Hit Singles & Albums'' (originally known as ''The Guinness Book of British Hit Singles'' and ''The Guinness Book of British Hit Albums'') was a music reference book originally published in the United Kingdom by the publishing arm of the Guinness breweries, Guinness Superlatives. Later editions were published by HiT Entertainment (who had bought the Guinness World Records brand). It listed all the singles and albums featured in the Top 75 pop charts in the UK. The Kent Music Report was a weekly record chart of Australian music singles and albums which was compiled by music enthusiast David Kent (historian), David Kent from May 1974 through to January 1999. The chart was re-branded the Australian Music Report (AMR) in July 1987.
